Which Amplifier for Sonus Faber Olympica 3 Speaker
Old post, but fwiw, I just paired my SF O3's with a Pass Labs X150.8 stereo amp.  This amp elicits more out of the speakers top to bottom than any other amps I've tried.  Excellent match.  Sorry for being a bit sideways of the specific question ab...
Sonus Faber Olympica III vs. Cremona M
Picked up a used pair of the SF lll's about a year ago. Absolutely stunning build and finish quality.  I like to joke that my wife made me buy them because they look so good in the living room!  Sonically I think I may have just recently found a c...
Closest to pass labs int 250 or x250.8
Recently purchased a Pass X150.8 stereo amp. Could not recommend it more highly.  The ONLY downside is it is heavy and cumbersome to manage.   SET like in the mids and highs, excellent bass control, extremely musical through the entire frequency r...

An all Parasound system - Good idea?
Couple final thoughts: 1) Mr. Ricred is a fine seller.  I appreciate his opinion and how he treated me when purchasing his JC2. First class all the way.  2) I wish I had the time and cabbage to sample all the fine gear discussed on these forums.  ...
An all Parasound system - Good idea?
Sorry, Bel Canto REF1000M monos.
An all Parasound system - Good idea?
Don't believe that if it costs more or has a more prestigious name it is necessarily better.  Different?  Certainly.  Better?  Matter of opinion.  I just invested in a Pass Labs X150.8 stereo amp, which cost significantly more than my A21 and my B...
Vandersteen 1Ci, Tekton Lore Reference, or Fritzspeaks Grove for a small room
Had a pair of Fritz Carbon 7's for a short time.  Once I had the crossovers replaced they were fine, prior to that they were a very non-linear, fatiguing speaker.  Cabinet quality was average at best, didn't care for the finish.  Some small speake...
An all Parasound system - Good idea?
Thanks to a very fine seller, Mr. Ricred, I ended up with his JC2 pre amp.  I have owned two A21's and an A23 in addition to the JC2, soI'm familiar with the Parasound sonic signature. I like it.  With all due respect, I think Mr. Ricred 'made his...
Tinnitus remedy?
I suffer from Meniere's Disease which includes episodes of tinnitus.  I sometimes use a Widex Zen hearing aid which includes a feature that helps eliminate the episodic ringing in my left ear.  It's an expensive little gadget, but it works.
My final table , hopefully !
Mark, what do you have and what catridge do you use? I didn't mention Nottingham because they are talking VPI and the OP seems to have set his mind. Though there are not too many Nottinghams in the US, still you very rarely see them for sale. But ...
My final table , hopefully !
Just curious, I've owned Thorens, Sonographe, Sota and recently a Nottngham TT and feel the Nott bests the others, why no mention of Nottingham decks?   Black background, musical as can be, detailed, spacious, quiet, dynamic.  Oh, simple to set up...
recommendation on new brush
FWIW, bought the Mapleshade Static Draining Brush and have used it a few times.  My experience using it in connection with my Nottingham TT and tonearm, Ortofon cartridge, Boston graphite mat, and VPI cleaning machine:  the annoying pops created b...
Jazz for aficionados
Another great call!
Jazz for aficionados
Actually I was referring to Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead.  When they got funky, jazzy, free roamin' free lancing, with Wynton Marsalis for example, their phrasing had roots in jazz similar to Getz and Byrd.   The Dead paid tribut...
