Questions about original Cal Alpha DAC Hi, I also notice a seemingly hotter output of the Alpha versus the Sigma II, and I understand through a bit of Alpha research, that there was the ability to swap out a resistor inside, thus adjusting the output.(Some have stated that the Alpha di...
RB 300 VTA Tracking Goto the analog for sale section of this site, and you'll see that Pete Riggle makes what you need for the RB 300. Other arms out there too, never had provision for VTA from the factory, but it appears Pete has come up with his VTAF to fit many. Mark
Seeking hot running amps A Pair of Mark Levinson #33's should fit the bill quite nicely! Lots, and lots of cooling fins-heatsinks on these puppies, plus they're just about the size of large radiators, so when your freinds come over, they will comment "Hey your Radiators e...
plexi cover swirl remover As mentioned, Novus makes products for this, and so does folks like Mequiars, which is commonly found in good auto parts stores.Other products that can be used with very good success, are clear coat compatible liquid rubbing compound, and clear co...

Quest For Phono Preamp Checking the specs on the PS Audio Unit, I see that it is a dual mono balanced from input to output Stage, with dual mono power supplies, and it does also indeed have balanced output to feed to a pre-amp, or directly to an amplifier. I almost boug...
Quest For Phono Preamp One model that has most of the features you desire is the PS Audio GCPH Phono Stage. I only feature I cannot recall it having, are balanced outputs. Cost is $1K with a 30 day no risk trial from the company. Mark
Springs for homemade isolation stand To funny Stehno! When I was a kid, I ran around the house with a tampon, and a cigarette lighter, threatening everyone in the house that I was going to blow the place up! lol All the women were blushing, and my uncle just about fell on the floor, ...
Springs for homemade isolation stand As I've learned-garnered information from others who are certainly more wise, and experienced than I am, the consensus seems to be that any type of tweak platform-material placed between the Turntable, and Rack-Stand will make a difference audibly...
Adding damping fluid to Audioquest PT arms ???? Hi Wayne, I had figured it had to use some sort of clamping with screw because of its teardrop shape, and couldn't see how it could rotate on the CW Shaft due to this oblong design.I'll bet it is a bugger getting the correct VTF. Hopefully my meag...
Springs for homemade isolation stand Hmm, sounds like a very tough engineering problem to me. I wonder though why would you need to go to such lengths of isolation? Are you playing music at earth shattering levels that require such drastic measures? or am I missing something with you...
Adding damping fluid to Audioquest PT arms ???? Wayne, I'm getting the impression that the Expressimo weight bears no mechanical resemblence to the original, and that it only slides, and then locks with an Allen Screw? If so, I can then understand the difficulty of attaining first balance, and t...
Does LAST Preservative DULL sound? While I have used it, and do seem to like it, I don't seem to notice any severe detriment to using it.Only thing I've ever seen after using it, was more noticable build-up of crud on my Stylus.I would assume it acts as a lubricant, and maybe helps...
Any CAL experts out there. Hi newbee, just curious in what you mean by hooking up the digital out from the Delta to the Sigma II? Are you referring to 75ohm cable, or? Thanks, Mark
What do folks use to clean cables/connections? Denatured alcohol has always been a good metal cleaner, (And optics cleaner also) is easily gotten, and might be a good product for step one. Naturally for cleaning connections-binding posts etc, I don't think one would have to resort to HPLC grad... |
