What's the best 6NS7 tube you have tried in your Atma-Sphere MP-3 preamp? @immatthewj “60's rock & roll isn't my thing”. Beatles, Stones, Zombies, etc., etc., etc. What’s not to like. I guess I’m showing my age 🙃.
What's the best 6NS7 tube you have tried in your Atma-Sphere MP-3 preamp? I ran RCA black plates in my MP3 for a while (until they went noisy) and liked them very much. Nice lively 60’s rock and roll sound, if that’s what you’re into. I believe Tube Depot has them in stock.
Balanced wiring for Sennhesier 800 S Check with ZMFheadphones. They make to order several grades of cables with a variety of connectors.
DAC for Aurender N200 @fthompson251 ya, more than $2k difference between the Terminator and DAC 200. It’s certainly the better value and imo sounds better too.
DAC for Aurender N200 I actually liked the Bartok. I didn’t find it analytical at all. I just like the Terminator a bit more.
DAC for Aurender N200 I find that on the N200 the usb is by far the better of the two connections. I run mine with a Denafrips Terminator Plus, which I also find to be a very good combination. I’ve also tried the Bartok and TA DAC’s but find the Terminator more to my l...

Solid State Preamp to replace tube unit Unfortunately the ET era (1st round) of CJ preamps had/have a reputation of going through tubes. Fortunately all but the GAT of that era only use 1 tube. And definitely the ET5 is a step up from the ET3. Good luck finding a SS pre that will bet...
Solid State Preamp to replace tube unit I have even a better suggestion, I think 🤔. Why don’t you opt for a recent model CJ pre? Something like the ET3 or better yet the ET3SE only uses one (1) tube in their line sections. Yes they do have a reputation for being hard on tubes but you do...
Solid State Preamp to replace tube unit I don’t believe you’ll be happy switching to a SS pre. I like you use Class D amps in the summer and tubes the rest of the year. I actually owned Pr.12’s for a number of years with a Pr. 16. I tried going with a SS pre a few times but always fo...
Physically Comfortable Headphones Meze Empyrean have come down considerably in price since the 2nd edition came out. With a bit of luck you may find one for around $1,500. I had Audeze LCD 2 before moving up to the Empyrean’s and couldn’t be happier. Very comfortable too. if you l...
Preamp upgrade Trying to assign a word to whether or how much better it may sound is a mistake. Will it sound better? Most likely yes. Will it sound much better in your system with your other present components and warrant a change? Again, probably yes. Will ...
Analysis Plus Oval 9 Oval 9’s are a little on the warm side. Not bright or forward at all. Ran them for a while with Plinius amps and Totem speakers. Very nice match and great bang for the buck, imo.
NOS Tube Recommendation for Quicksilver Phono Pre Amp While some of the more “famous” NOS tubes are still available the quiet ones that are needed for a phono stage generally are not. Most important, make sure you get tubes suitable for a phono stage. Unless you have VERY deep pockets I think you’ll ...
DAC options to consider for Innuos streamer I’m also in the market for a Pulsar to pair with my Denafrips Terminator Plus, which I also recommend highly. Just a clarification to Mitch’s comments, Innuos will have different output modules available for the Pulsar very soon. At least that is ... |
