Tube DAC Conundrum
There is no right or wrong. There are ups and downs no matter what you chose, so just listen and enjoy and do whatever works for you. Be prepared to replace tubes more frequently if you leave it on. An nobody expects an accident. That is why they ...
Rock n Roll w/Strings
Apocalyptica's first album of Metallica covers changed my perception of Metallica's music and gave it a lot of credibility for the first time. It's perhaps the purest example of strings mainly doing rock music successfully. The cellos do a great j...
Which dac with this system?
If it were me, I'd lean towards a tube DAC for a smooth presentation with those smaller Quad monitors. Not sure which one would meet all your requirements though.

Could be. Dunno. I am a Sangean fan though so far and have not had the honor of trying Grace, though I looked at their network player that comes in at a lower price point than teh SB Touch back when I was looking to replace my Roku's, and was not ...
Tube DAC Conundrum
The audiophile in me says: "leave 'em on".The rest of me which is where most of my rationale behavior emanates from, says: "turn 'em off when you're not using them, dummy"!My rational side can be harsh. It also usually ends up winning these battle...
Wow, everything posted for sale is ''light use''??
Can't guarantee audiogon blue book would have much on that model in that many rarer models do not have a lot of data, but for the monthly fee it is generally a good investment. Audiogon blue book is worth having whenever seriously considering buyi...

"The ads with the high prices that just sit there are another one I can't figure out. I thought they want to sell something, but they won't adjust their prices into reality."In that case they are clearly fishing for suckers. They want to sell but ...

I tend to believe most on this site keep their gear in good shape and these represent fair values used for the most part.Of course always exceptions. And sure, sellers always look to put the best spin on a product no matter what or where. Exaggerat...
Tube DAC Conundrum
I have a tube dac and pre-amp. Can't practically leave tube gear on. Too risky! So I don't. SS amps, DACs, etc. I often do.
Are CD players dead
if it were me, I would have kept the lp format for the packaging at least as an option for those who care and just stuck the CD in that instead of a record. Packaging and overall end user utility took a big hit with CDs. If they would have done th...

Having an extra reference set to compare to is the best way to know for sure how another set is performing. Or else you might just trust your ears enough to detect a problem that matters when it sneeks in.
