New Amp for Dynaudio Contour S 1.4 Speakers
BEl Canto Ref1000m monoblocks are top notch with my Dynaudio monitors and would not hesitate to recommend them for Dynaudios in general.
What's the oldest piece of gear in your system?
Yeah, other than my ears, the Linn Axis table. I bought it back in the 80s to avoid having to replace all my albums with CDs. Still going strong. A fantastic investment.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Never heard Is but have almost picked up a pair on several occasions. They are reputed to be quite awsome. They were an interim top of the line design prior to the Walsh cls driver but do not utilize any Walsh driver techlology.
It's Hammond B3 Organ Day
Do a search and find the "Hammond Organ Radio" station on the internet. Lots of fun.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Musical and muscular! I like that description! I'd love to see some nice photos of those bubinga 5000s.
Thin Walled Speakers -Tonian, Musical Affairs, etc
Good question!
Do I need BOTH amp and pre to be sonic holography?
The only downside I heard with the Carver sonic holography when I used it was a noticeable loss of dynamics, mostly in the low end. It did however work as advertised if set up properly as instructed and listening smack in the sweet spot. Away from...
Need Advice On A Network Music Player
Kbar,I believe you can connect a drive with music library direct to TOuch, via USB I would expect. I have read from others that have done this though that there may be quirks compared to network access, which is probably the most common approach.I...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I've found significant differences with different ICs with the OHMS, more so than any other speaker I have owned.HAven't crossed the bridge of dabbling with power cords yet. HAve not felt the need. I hesitate to change anything at present. Everyth...
Benefits of brand synergy
There is benefit in synergy. Buying all within a brand does not necessarily guarantee synergy, so careful there. Some gear in some brand lines together might provide it, some not.Don't forget also that whatever gear you buy has to synergize with t...
Need Advice On A Network Music Player
Touch + outboard DAC = hard to beat for internet radio and CD quality digital.I am skeptical about the merit of downloadable high res audio files still these days. Larger high res files does not automatically equate to better sound. HD tracks does...
Please help me understand
My dog loves to listen to my system even when cranked. He sits relaxed and his ears twitch as he soaks it all in. I take that as a good sign.HE likes to chase animals. When animal noises are played, his ears really perk and he has to think about w...
How important is an audio rack?
The audio rack/stand/isolation ante is much higher with turntables in particular than with other gear. Other mechanical devices, like CD players, maybe. For amps, pre-amps, etc., I'd focus on isolating each component from external EM or RF noise/f...
CD drive vibrates on some disks
Probably offcenter or some disc imperfection. Sometimes you can limit vibes by applying pressure with your hands. Try that while ripping. Limiting vibes may help rips go faster. Rip it once as best as possible and be done with it. Ifit happens reg...
Hardwood floors in basement music room?
I have most of my gear on concrete foundation in lower level with dense thin carpeting and padding.I think this to be close to ideal, at least to my tastes. Feedback and vibrations are a non-issue even with vinyl for perhaps the first time ever fo...
