Headphones? Anyone?
I have done a lot of headphone research and some listening of late. Its very hard to choose on paper these days other than style maybe. So many good ones and headphone preference is a very personal thing.I really like the Klipsch phones I have hear...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
"What do the MWTs most resemble as far as headphone brand/style?"Probably the more neutral sounding ones with flatter frequency response, which I have seen several models of the brands you mention have been measured to achieve. But its is really ha...
Fuses that matter.
"fact that these fuses have not been tested or approved by any agency, wouldn't matter."The buyer should get the fuse for discounted price compared to standard then since fuse might not even do the thing it was designed to do properly, which is bl...
Fuses that matter.
"Everyone's happy but especially the guy who made a huge profit on a cheap placebo tweak."Frankly, I don't think I would be happy at that point knowing that the fruit of such dealings was now in my signal path, even if it sounds just fine.
Fuses that matter.
Oh, as long as the fancy expensive fuse does not sound WORSE than the standard, most are not likely to return it even if they can. Its a $30 insurance policy essentially. No problem. Except the seller made a huge profit for nothing. Everyone's hap...
Fuses that matter.
Haven't done the math but would not surprise me if a fuse directly in the signal path in a speaker like Magnepan is more significant in terms of resistance than in an amp say and would therefore have a better chance of making a discernible differe...
Another reason why I like my music server
Kijanki,I am with you on all points. Keeping computer as isolated as possible from the audio gear is the best place to be.Also with wireless no physical connection between the potentially noisy computer and audio source. Not sure how much that mat...
Analytical or Musical Which way to go?
Maybe its a left/right side of the brain kind of thing?
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
RBF,The Radiohead CDs are a very good test to determine if an amp is underpowered for your needs. They will sound like c--- on a poor and/or underpowered system, especially at higher volume, but a good system can take them to great heights indeed!
Fuses that matter.
"Me? No. But my wife does. Her financial interest is that I stop buying them."Bryon, you are too funny!"For my ears they clearly and without any question remove "gray noise" across the Spectron from high frequencies to low - making sound much more...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
"Anyone here ever listen to any of these records on their Walshes?"Mine tend to bring out the best of whatever there is in the recording.I have Abbey Road and both Radioheads. Both are treats in different ways. Those two Radiohead CDs are two very...
The ideal auditorium? Blank canvas
Waryn,Looks pretty good to me.I notice your speaker placement in the diagram almost half way into the room. That is very insightful! Some of the best setups I have heard have been set up that way. ITs something that most can never try or may not e...
Fuses that matter.
How about listening both with hands cupped behind the ear and without in each case? That's the cheapest and consistently best tweak that I know of! :-)Also just to be sure, you have no financial interest in expensive audiophile fuses/tweaks right?S...
are some phono stages more resistant to hum?
Higher level phono sections like mm carts rather than low output mc carts are less sensitive to EM induced hum from nearby transformers, etc. Shielded cables and/or supplemental shielding around the low level amplification device(s) like a step up...
Are Carver Preamps Any Good?
"Carver offers reliable, attractive components if you don’t ask them to be the star of the show."They will not be the star of the show in most modern well executed audiophile type systems. They can be though when some of the features come in handy ...
