D class amps with Soundlab speakers
"I find that class D works a lot better if they aren't being pushed hard."PRobaly true with most any SS amp but honestly, I play my BC ref1000m's pretty loud on some relatively inefficient speakers (albeit not electrostats, which are unique electr...
What preamp
If you can stretch your budget a bit or find used, maybe a Benchmark Pre if your source material is mainly digital and having a popular reference quality DAC is part of the value proposition for you.
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
You have to be somewhat wealthy to have a really expensive system.Enjoyment of music is not the province of the wealthy though by any stretch. Being wealthy or having a mega-buck system is obviously not required. An appreciation or love for music ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I don't expect a wall mount TV alone to make much difference. Maybe somewhat more so if low enough to be at the primary reflection points on the rear wall based on where you listen from.
Intro system budget problem
I think that will be a very nice sounding rig for very reasonable cost.Keep us posted!
Intro system budget problem

Intro system budget problem
Peach tree Decco or Nova if you can squeeze it used would be an easy and nice fit.You could upgrade to an outboard amp later and use the Peachtree as a DAC and pre-amp only later if you ever feel the need.NAd integrated is a good path also. Probab...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I posted this to Carja's system thread but am including here also in case of value to others:I think the key to soundstage depth with the OHMS is distance from rear wall (several feet if possible) + some degree of sound reflectivity off the rear w...
Enough SET Power for Rock and Roll
I've heard the Jolida fx10 mentioned in that article do a surprisingly good job with a pair of Nola monitors. I could see it doing very well with Zu's. THe author seemed to like the Miniwatt as well. Will have to check those out.How about Zu versu...
Missing sound of instruments/voice/ on CD tracks
Are you saying maybe that some instruments and voice is not discernible, muddled, or not as clear as it should be, or truly not there at all?Big difference. There are tweaks that might address the first but the second would seem to be a more signif...
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
For someone who cannot live with just a single system and its sound for whatever reason, another option is to set up multiple systems. Nothing wrong with variety.A very practical and cost effective way to do this these days is wireless LAN access ...
Enough SET Power for Rock and Roll
I wonder how some of the Zu speaker offerings compare to Klipsch in terms of performance and value for rock music off a SET type amp?
Enough SET Power for Rock and Roll
The Audio Mirror stuff is very nice looking and appears reasonably priced.
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
Some will find s Merry Go Round to be fun.Others not.High End Audio merry go rounds can be expensive though and send a lot of money down the drain. That's never a good thing. Inefficient at best!
