When a Reviewer "likes" something
The reviewers whose opinions I trust are the ones who base their reviews on a solid foundation of facts. They will point out why one thing works well with another and not another. These kind of reviewers are admittedly in the minority perhaps, but...
Amazing sound quality inexpensive earbuds
Realize of course that all ears are shaped differently. The piece that fits one best is likely to not fit another best. Its like fitting a pair of shoes for both function and comfort. See how many shoe designs and sizes are out there? As a result,...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
An omni tweeter, especially using the folded ribbon Heil kind, sounds like a good thing. My only concern would be how well it integrates with the rest in lieu of a crossover. It appears to be designed to integrate cleanly and easily out of the box...

A hotter sounding than desired top end might well accompany a poor seal that defeats bass potential.

"You are a wise persons and IMHO there are no true real facts where you can argue that tube technology is better than SS to work with real speakers"Some say some tubes provide more linear gain at various frequencies than transistors. IF so, that w...

"The midrange is really the strength here. The bass is there but you may have to work for it."That may be typical with all earbuds from what I have seen in that the tight seal is critical for the bass (ie to "pressurize" the ear fully). A tight se...
Who Will Stand the Test of Time?
"Mapman I don't doubt that a lot of 'dark side' stuff will survive. It will depend on how much MONEY can be made off of it. That's the key."Nothing, dark or otherwise, will survive if there is no market for it.

"And 'conditions' don't apply to the guys into metal and other such garbage."Metallica has a decent chance of survival there I would say.Maybe "Deep Purple" as well.Motorhead also has a decent chance I would say.Why should material that appeals mo...
Who Will Stand the Test of Time?
Two factors I used mainly to determine my list:1) talents that have withstood the test of time to a good extent so far, although admittedly that is still a limited time frame.2) core musical themes or attributes most likely to affect people than o...

Wow! NEver saw those AKGs! I would like to hear those and compare to the Klipsch. The Klipsch S4s originally retailed for over $200 or so I think I recall.Ear buds are mass market products used by many. That is good for audiophiles seeking good sou...
Amazing sound quality inexpensive earbuds
Amazon now has Klipsch s4 buds for just over $30. I thought these a good value at $80 prior when I bought them a year or two back.Sounds like its a buyers market for good ear buds these days.

martin logan vs magnepan sound
If I had the right room for them, I would really like to give newer MLs a test run. One of the things I like most about audio is trying out products that demonstrate a unique design approach. MLs fall into that category.
how can I make the back wall transparent?
The toilet paper rolls will only help with soundstage depth/making the back wall transparent if attenuation of sound levels to rear of speakers is what is called for based on all the above. In terms of aesthetics, they is what they is. :^)
