Established Artists: Hidden Gems/Classic Rock
I've been liking a lot of old Nazareth tunes of late that never caught my attention back in their day.Same true of Elvis, though lots to dig through there.I have much greater appreciation for AC/DC these days than I did in my youth. I was born in ...
Why does most new music suck?
"I get disheartened to hear audiophiles say that music is shit, dead , over."I think that in many cases like this, with "audiophiles", the user has high or particular performance/sound quality expectations that are not being met for whatever reaso...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
"either the speed is good or it's not."That's easily measured and determined. $150 Japanese turntables from the seventies used strobe lights as indicators. Most decent tables in good working order had good speed control. The most common problem wa...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Its always a fair question to ask how one knows how a particular component in an audio system is contributing to the end results.Listening to a system only indicates what each of the components used is CAPABLE of doing in that particular configura...
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
"Mapman, but I know many of them. They tend to not be "technical" in the university sense of the word, but rather military or self trained."Lots of reasons why people like to tinker. Formal education is not a pre-requisite. I've been doing it with...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
"Having owned many good turntables in my audiophile life I am still wondering why not one of the modern designs of the last 20 years is able to beat the sound qualities of an EMT 927."There is not much difference in "sound quality" of one well con...
MerrillAudio Veritas Reviewed at Dagogo
I suppose once an innovative cost effective product or technology catches on in the high end audio world, it is ripe for a big markup if its performance is competitive with much more expensive gear. Class D amps fit this bill perfectly. I doubt th...
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
I tend to agree with Charker. But there are many choices out there for anyone interested, like always, from the cheapest mass produced garbage to the biggest and most expensive "high end" gear. VEry few who like audio probably pay all that much att...
Triangle Comete EX, Comete 30th Anniv, or Trio?
Good question.I have considered all three as an upgrade for my 15 year old Triangle Titus XS speakers someday.Triangle sound I have heard is pretty distinctive. Very fast, transparent and neutral, similar to planars. High end can tend towards bein...
Why does most new music suck?
Even "bad" music sounds pretty good on a good stereo. Every little bit helps.....
Bass leaves after amp warms up?
"The thread that refuses to die! Will it survive to 1,000 responses? What is the record?"We're in the middle of a "cliff-hanger", hoping to find out what happens in the end. Like "who shot JR?".
Fuses that matter.
Tbg,In general, I do not advocate people open up their expensive gear and make a tweak in the interest of better sound unless they really know what they are doing. Accidents happen, and there are many other much less risky ways to tweak for better...
Fuses that matter.
Hopefully, people listen to AL in that that is really the thing that "matters" most with fuses. How different ones in good operating condition sound is a distant second IMHO. Lots of other ways to tweak ones system without putting it at risk IMHO.
Small Speakers For A Large Room...
OHM Walsh 3000 or 5000 are designed for a room that size. They have smallish footprint like monitors but are floorstanding so no stands needed. WAF is very good if the style in general is not an issue. They will fill the room with sound. I'd recom...
Why does most new music suck?
"Why does most new music suck? "Because the listener thinks it does. That's really the only possible answer that can hold any water.
