What does "compression" like? Making recordings is an art not just nuts and bolts engineering. Compression is one of the tools applied as part of the art and not always necessarily a bad thing. It's a tool that provides various views into the music as envisioned by recording e...
Seeking more 3d imaging, deeper/wider soundstage Don't know about Rotel but the brands Bo identified are certainly NOT all inherently 2-dimensional as indicated. I have heard otherwise.
Do you demag or destat your CDs/DVDS? Not every physical phenomenon has an effect on our precious sound quality. THis is one of them in my opinion in that CD playback nowadays is perhaps the most reliable process in all of home audio in terms of producing consistent results, save exce...
The End Of Big Iron? Class D is basically high efficiency amp technology that is newer than traditional Class A or B, but has come into its own these days when power and current is still needed but not the size, bulk, and cost.I love my Class D amps and will likely ne...
Do you demag or destat your CDs/DVDS? No. I do make sure they are clean and smudge free by wetting and wiping clean with a non-abrasive cloth whenever possible, especially for a faster rip with fewer re-reads. That addresses any static electricity issues that might exist as well. Ther...

The End Of Big Iron? Class D amps are taking over for traditional big heavy Class A/B amps.I think some go up to 1000 watts into 8 ohm, but I find 500 w/ch Class D to never break a sweat in my application. That's still way more juice than most people would have ever be...
Sloped baffle Practically, headphones are the best for time and phase coherence. Even good quality cheap ones. Use those as a reference to help decide how good speakers sound in this regard. Then check the measurements if available to see if things correlate.
It's All About Increments Sabai,All good questions, but who gives a rat's arse if someone sticks the "high end" label on something or not? It either sounds good or does not. WHich sounds best seems to always be a pure subjective judgement that depends as much on the listen...
