Fritz Carbon 7 SE MKII I have heard other Fritz models if not Carbon and they are a very smart choice for standmount speakers. . Most unique is they are designed to sound good with most any amp but beyond that they deliver exceptional sound and value.
Streaming upgrade from Cambridge Audio cxn v2 @deone don’t be surprised. Do be skeptical of recommendations with nothing concrete to back it up other than “I think it sounds good”, especially before dropping big bucks. Do your homework and you will realize top notch digital these days need no...
Looking for recommendations for integrated with a more “organic” sound. I’d check out Krell.
Cambridge EVO 150 I wouldn’t call it forward sounding at all. There is however no high end rolloff as was more common in older Class D amps and that is a difference for the better in terms of hearing all the detail in a recording, which the Evo 150 is very good at.
Streaming upgrade from Cambridge Audio cxn v2 I’m not a dealer, just an experienced user for many many years. I would keep the streamer and play with different DACs if desired. Or if you must just upgrade to the new version of that streamer just released. I have been quite pleased with the ...
What qualities stand out in really good solid state preamps? It’s a good point above that whenever considering a pre-amp to consider how well it matches to the amp intended for use with it. Impedance matching is key. A high output impedance combined with a low input impedance will always color the sound and...
Luxman leaves me wanting LTA is wonderful stuff because it is very neutral as tube gear goes. These days, in the land of digital processing and streaming, Neutral hardware is always the best place to start, like a sheet of white paper. Then add some color separately as n...
Luxman leaves me wanting Are you streaming with Roon? If so try applying some eq using the DSP functionality. If you are not, give Roon a try just for that. Easy fix once you get it right compared to the hifi merry go round especially once you already have good stuff that...
What qualities stand out in really good solid state preamps? I’d have to say objectively the best will share characteristics of extended smooth frequency response, low noise, and low distortion. That was easy, eh? But wait, there’s more…. In addition to that features matter. Does it have the needed input...
All speakers have a little EQ built in Eq is the great equalizer. It’s true. Most all room acoustics + imperfect gear performance means things will almost always come up short to some degree until some form of correction is applied. Not only that, but chances are you won’t even know i...
Rogue Audio hard to resell, has it fallen out of favor ? Could it be that tube gear in general is gradually losing steam and becoming even even more niche as time passes?
Cambridge EVO 150 The video review of the 3 different units is very well done and very spot on. I would agree with pretty much every point made. Cambridge features stand out. Dirac on the NAD could be a game changer for many. Naim’s overall music performance is ...
Anyone have experience with Gershman Avant Garde vs Studio II speakers??? I’m a Gershmann fan. I’m sure if the speakers fit your room you are taking a step up with the larger floorstanders. Note I have heard the monitors and loved them but have not heard the Avante Garde.
Cambridge EVO 150 I can say with great confidence it can have very good soundstage and timbre because I have heard it for a couple years now. I did buy it as an experiment and from a source with a return policy but it stayed and replaced a combo of Audio Research t...
Cambridge EVO 150 I have an Evo 150. . It replaced much more expensive gear and goes loud and clear. The reviews are spot on. Go figure! Also be assured it does NOT sound like 1970s Technics and Bose 301. That’s a totally baseless assertion. I am very familiar wit... |
