Me too.  Learned a lot.  Testing tubes and helping replace parts was par for the course.

Those were the days. 😌i bought my first "good" system there. The 40 watt integrated amp and matching tuner and the short speakers with Heil AMT.   Also Lafayette belt drive tt with Pickering cart. Not too shabby for a poor college freshman. 
So how many people are using subwoofers
If your goal is to hear it all kinda crazy not to.

Some people are technical and some not.   If not tech-speak may as well be a foreign language.  But one worth learning something about if your goal is good sound for reasonable cost.

"God's greatest gift to mankind (followed closely by dogs ;-). "I'd add family and leave it at that.My dog loves to sit calmly and listen to my hifi. with me.    Go figure.  He's a typical hyper Jack Russell Terrier....does not happen very often.

"As long as I can listen to a poor-quality recording, and hear through the flaws, and instead feel like I am hearing what the artist and recording/mastering engineers were trying to accomplish, I am happy."That's a great one.  Spoken like a true...
