Audio Research discontinuing lower lines components?
Its not hard to get good sound these days. If you are targeting high end, whatever that means, you probably have to be pricey and build Lamborghinis. But how many people really want or need a Lamborghini? Gotta make your money somehow.Really sorry...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
macdad, every device is designed to use a particular value fuse in terms of how much current will pass before blowing out.The risk with audiophiles is forgetting what the primary purpose of a fuse is: to protect the equipment from accidental damag...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
A fuse is perhaps the least complicated part in electronics.   Except for wires maybe, at least the normal kind.Fuses conduct electricity normally and blow out at certain designed current levels .  Thats pretty much it.   No two things ever perfor...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
Geoff if you know just be nice and share and stop teasing the audiophiles.
Neutral electronics are a farce...
Cool Geoff.Glad to hear all is not lost.Do you think the engineers actually designing and building this stuff might be able to do it as well?  Some, like the really good ones maybe even better?   How about the successful end users setting this stu...
Neutral electronics are a farce...
Geoff how about worrying about everything you have no control over. Like the Sun for example. It keeps us warm but is going to explode and kill us all some day.Or maybe apply your genius and offer up some solutions to the problem. That should be r...
Neutral electronics are a farce...
Nice rhetoric!Rhetoric:language designed to have a persuasive or impressive effect on its audience, but often regarded as lacking in sincerity or meaningful content.
I was thinking the other day about all the audio stores that were around when I was a kid
When I was a kid high end to me was a Sony integrated stereo.   in my town the best selection was at Jewelcor.   There was Glick Audio that sold McIntosh and Yamaha and others but that was way out of my price range.   Radio Shack and Lafayette Rad...

If neutral = accurate then sign me up.
Is it possible to be an audiophile and be happy with what you have
The two are not mutually exclusive.  So yes.You can argue that the most hard core audiophiles are never satisfied and have the time to continuously try to push forward towards whatever it is that they are seeking whereas some care just as much but...
Servers: Are we there yet?
My experience over the last 8 years or so is for CD resolution streaming,  wifi need not be a problem as long as functioning properly and connections are strong(say >80%).   That is with good quality gear designed to stream CD res audio or high...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
Fascinating Fuse thread. The problem I have is I can change nothing and things may still sound subtly different to me day by day, listening session by listening session for reasons unknown. But the differences are subtle and seldom ever affect my e...
Audio Research discontinuing lower lines components?
Too bad,   I own and have liked ARC but oh well someone else will fill the niche if needed.   I wonder if their tube replacement and service costs will skyrocket as well?   If it does I will strongly consider dumping this brand now.
What's up with the ridiculous offers?!?
The OP may well have been one of those dealers who lowball offers here in order to buy cheap and resell that have been mentioned.   Trying to deter the competition.
I have seen some Interesting comments about Mcintosh lately
FWIW I would never wear a Rolex.I grew up down the road from the Hamilton Watch factory.  An American classic.  At normal PSIs anyhow.Lets face it it not that hard to keep accurate time these days.   Just like its not that hard any longer to have ...
