Considering Wilson or Sonus Faber floor standing over my Rockport monitors & Wisdom Sub I think I saw Rockport running tube amps at CAF a few years back as well, but they were very big, very esoteric and very expensive. I’m sure most anything would have sounded very good with those amps. The system seemed to perform very well by audi...
These Moody Blues Will Knock Your Socks Off! He had other interests. He was regarded as a technical expert on the mellotron for example back in its heyday having worked for the company that manufactured it My understanding is he experienced a lot of success and just decided to move on t...
Considering Wilson or Sonus Faber floor standing over my Rockport monitors & Wisdom Sub I don't think any speakers mentioned (Rockport, Wilson SF) are inherently designed for best performance with a tube amp. Using a powered sub currently to offload work from the main amp and speakers is a good approach to address that on paper if d...
Tannoy? tannoy is probably the largest and oldest brand that I have never had an opportunity to give a serious listen to. On paper, I like them a lot.Wondering if people in US find them a worthwhile value these days?
Is it all worth it? That old things can still perform well brings up some interesting questions.Like if Johnny Unitas, who was physically imperfect and limited by modern standards, came around today in his prime, would teams still want him?
Has anyone heard the new North American products preamp and amp? Wow this is all so hard!I think we really all need someone to save us.
Is it all worth it? Exactly. They are enjoyable and cost practically nothing by audiogon standards. If it sounds good and is enjoyable why bother analyzing it further. A corollary would be it need not be considered audiophile to sound great though not perfect.
For all you Dean Martin fans A lot of Dean Martin original releases remastered to CD are nice sonic treats. Essential Dean Martin is a good sampling.
Is it all worth it? ive only heard them in my sunroom. Not a/b compared with any others other than triangle Titus I had in there prior. But I'd expect they could compete with various smaller monitors I've heard from companies like PSB and B&W in local shops ...
Is it all worth it? Yes I am listening to them now. Very well suited for the sunroom. One can can call them whatever. My point is they cost practically nothing these days and compete with new stuff citing many times more somewhat surprisingly. Yes se they are ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? Hmm my recollection of Dueval is nothing like ohm. Dueval drivers are mounted in cabinet and fire upward towards at an acoustical dispersion component which disperses the sound omnidirectionally. Ohm walsh drivers face down ward into the cabinet w...
Second audio system in your house? Look we often choose to settle for one mate but why be limited to just one system? Good sound need not cost a lot these days. And one system does not care if you also love others.
Second audio system in your house? Don't even ask how many pair of headphones I have sitting around...😛
Second audio system in your house? My main system is no holds barred for the ultimate serious listening sessions at least for me. I use that as a reference but my second system costs much less and has some limitations. But still sounds spot on for serious listening at least up to ...
Yoga blocks for isolation Try them under speakers on a suspended plywood floor. It should be relatively easy to determine to what extent they isolate or couple. I suspect more the former but the proof would be in the pudding. |
