Stereophile, no more bench tests????!!!!
Specs and measurements are useful mainly as guidelines to determine what components are most likely to perform best together. Performance enables good sound but does not fully determine it. You still have to listen once you have decided what to li...
Stereophile, no more bench tests????!!!!
It’s a shame if so. High End Audio seems much more interested in bling and mysticism not engineering in order to preserve itself here these days. Oh well.   Much easier for all and probably more profitable that way.
German Physiks - Listening Impressions Wanted
They were best sound contenders for me at Capital AudioFest last year. That was the first I got to hear them. I am an omni guy with OHM Walsh speakers in my main hifi. Omni presentation is different more like a live performance. May take getting u...
Up and coming band: Davina and the Vagabonds
"Sunshine" is a CD worth having. Great music and great sound.  Lots of fun!
High End is Dead?
Dunno but very tough to be in that business these days and getting tougher.
Full-Range to Monitors
The OHM Walsh full range floorstanders are the only floorstanders I value enough to ever own again. Otherwise its monitors only moving forward. Too big bulky and hard to tame acoustically in most rooms!
New way for audiophiles to die!
When I was born, I saw the light of day.......when I die, I want to hear some Moody Blues.
Alternatives to Klipsch for efficient/very efficient sub-$300 listening speakers?
There are probably thousands of <$300 speakers that are very efficient. Big Lots, Kmart, Walmart and others are chock full of these. The pickings get much thinner if one also expects them to handle power, go loud without breakup and/or have any...
New way for audiophiles to die!
That from the expert on nothing burgers.
Notable very small loudspeaker companies (other than Tekton!)
Gershmann Acoustics http://www.gershmanacoustics.com/.      Also +1 for Joseph http://www.josephaudio.com/ and OHM (www.ohmspeakers.com)  Triangle maybe not small but lesser known in USA  (http://www.triangle-fr.com/en)
New way for audiophiles to die!
Actually I find posts about useless or wasteful things quite useful. You learn about things that are useless and the people pitching them which is quite useful information to have.  I find that in itself fascinating as well as I indicated.
Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what?
This is an interesting topic for me.I have been on the fence about trying Klipsch Heresy III in my second system. I run Triangle Titus and Klipsch sw-308 subwoofer there currently. Amp is Bel Canto C5i integrated. The sound is lovely. I have also ...
New way for audiophiles to die!
Thanks for that new milestone in fascinating yet totally useless waste.
listening to music in the car
I’m like gdhal. Always looking for time to listen to music. A good car audio system helps. A quiet ride also helps. I think I read the Acura ELS system uses active noise cancellation. In any case the overall result is very good and I hear more in ...
moody blues vs rock hall of fame
They finally did it!  Ta da!
