Audiophiles should learn from people who created audio
PEople would actually do that just to make money?Whoda thunk it!
Best DAC for my situation...Read on!
Yes you can choose to use a favorite pre-amp as a personal preference tone control or not. Clean and accurate alone does not always cut it for all ears. Benchmark HDR DACs are in fact DACs built into a good quality pre-amp. You can swtich between ...
Budget Office System Integrated for $1000 or less
Ben I have heard larger Maggies (of Rogue Cronus Magnum tube amp) with REl sub. No doubt dual subs will help and RELs are very good. I just think dynamic speakers are much better suited for electronic music in general. I had larger Maggies with M&...
Best DAC for my situation...Read on!
I would find a suitable Benchmark DAC to experiment with. You might use it as a straight DAC or preamp in the end depending. The credentials of the Benchmark DACs are pretty much impeccable making it a logical go to choice to find out what might b...
Budget Office System Integrated for $1000 or less
If it were me I’d look at Class D amp from Peachtree, Rogue Bel Canto or similar. 100 w/ch or more depending on room size and how loud you need to go and budget. I can recommend the Bel Canto c5i integrated for top notch sound and everything you m...
Where To Buy Cable Elevators/Risers?
+1 on the legos.   Only audiophile grade legos though of course.
SVS PB-16 Sub
I’ve been researching subs for music. Leaning towards Sumiko for their hybrid vertical/horizontal firing pattern. Which seems to me a good way to get more out of a particular size sub and perhaps help make for smoother response in more room locati...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
DACs in newer better smart phones are not bad. As is the case with many good quality products at various price points these days. Need not cost much. You might need a good outboard amp to drive many good quality headphones well. At that point an e...
Dealers hijacking the discussions
If having a website listing products and prices in addition to posting ads on Audiogon for same products makes one a dealer,  a dealer who chimed in above and said he wasn't a dealer actually is.So much for dealer transparency on Audiogon.
Tannoy Legacy Series Speakers
Still waiting to get a chance to audition some good home audio Tannoys. Legacy or latest and greatest. Not easy to find in the US though they can be readily had online. Would like to see at Capital Audiofest. That would help persuade me to go agai...
Searching for the most "accurate" speaker (below 15K)
Not any of the conventional box speakers I know of though so many do sound very good.Take a listen to OHM Walsh.  Maybe just maybe.   At least for me.
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
These days its much harder to find a bad DAC than a good one.   Very good DACs are pretty much commodity items these days.   Not to say they all sound the same.I got to listen to very highly regarded Chord Mojo portable DAC yesterday running the $...
Speakers are the first piece of the puzzle
Room acoustics are perhaps the biggest factor to consider up front because that can only practically be changed to a certain extent. You have relatively little control over room acoustics compared to the gear you put in the room. Room acoustics af...
What makes you build a system around an amplifier?
Obviously the reason would be one cares more about the amplifier than the speakers for whatever reason. A totally subjective decision. In the end the best system is the one you like best for whatever reason.
Dealers hijacking the discussions
Audiogon’s policy as long as I have been around (2008 or so) has always been to let dealers participate freely in the forums and not require any disclosure. So it is what it has always been. The shilling factor has seemed to have gone up over time...
