A way to listen to a large collection I rip all cds and convert my records to digital and stream tracks or whole releases randomly. I spend most of my listening time that way. It’s like having your own personally programmed radio station plus no commercials.
Seeking informed advice on speaker acquisition (Vandersteen vs. OHM Walsh) Both are time aligned which is probably the beneficial thing most similar about the two that tend to put both in the same conversations.
Cable Burn In There are only two paradigms really for how people approach things based on technology like hifi. First is is the one I subscribe to which is try my hardest to understand how things work and use that knowledge to guide the way. That is how all new...

Bel canto problems I have BC C5i in a cabinet for several years, no problem.I also have ref1000m amps running fine for years, not in cabinet.Neither ever heats up much so I would not expect cabinet to be a problem normally.I bought ref1000m amps used and I found one...
Aftermarket Fuses Is it just me or does the pro audio and the audio industry in general seem to be very slow? GK once again, as pretty much always, you've clearly demonstrated its definitely you.
Aftermarket Fuses Gk is the poster boy for aftermarket fuses here. That is based on his # of posts on the subject not anything of particular consequence in them.
Newer cars without cd players-what now? The built in hard disk drive (HDD) is part of the Acura TLX technology package, not a base level feature, I am pretty certain. It supposedly tags with album information and art when ripped to, much like ripping a CD to disk storage at home.Album ar...
Speakers for aging audiophiles - What's with today bass emphasis ? Lowering bass levels need not be rocket science. Distance from wall and corner reinforcement will do it. If your floors are suspended plywood (they have some give and vibrate if you jump up and down). isolating stands like Isoacoustics will clean ...
Speakers for aging audiophiles - What's with today bass emphasis ? Is the issue with the Logitech, turntable or both? Also those Dynaudios are nearfield monitors. Is that how you listen when you hear too much bass?Placement and room acoustics greatly affects bass response in that range. Have/can you play with that...
Newer cars without cd players-what now? Acura TLX has a cd player that rips cds played to a hard drive so no CD needed after one play. I have not used it yet though. I mostly use plex on iphone and Apple Carplay. Sound quality is very good.
Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers Prof if you get a chance try a pair of OHM Walsh. They might hit a lot of your sweet spots from what I read. If ever in Dc/Baltimore area let me know would be glad to give an audition.
Klipsch Heresy 1 Compatibility question with Class D Amp Should be a good match. The thing I would wonder about is if teh high power (though efficient) amps are overkill for the high efficiency Heresy? That combo should be capable of very high SPL and dynamics. If it were me I’d avoid over driving the Her...

What are you streaming tonight? Cleansing Music 50s Bop. Great station for pre-Beatles popular music. LOts of well known and deeper cuts all wonderful sounding. They don't make music like that anymore. |
