Why Does All Music Sound the Same; An Explanation
There may be more similarity in how pop recordings and even most recordings in general are produced these days, especially if the target is radio play, but they still do not all sound the same. That’s just another untrue extreme generalization. So...
Why Does All Music Sound the Same; An Explanation
Say what?
Whats playing on your system today?
Uber I use an art usb phono plus a2d converter to usb on my laptop that hosts the music server on attached usb drive. I use audacity software on the laptop to capture the digital at cd resolution and then master the digital. I play the entire albu...

Sending some vinyl to the music server today.  Up currently is "All the World Dances" by David Carroll and his Orchestra a 1961 lp on Mercury Perfect Presence label that is what hifi is all about.  There is even a diagram on the back cover showing...
Whats playing on your system today?
"Ballad of Easy Rider" by The Byrds which for whatever reason is still one of my favorite lp listens start to finish.
I wonder how many audiophiles there are these days
People still want good sound but lifestyles have changed and technology improved so not as big a deal to get it as it used to be. High End Home Audio industry is a small niche. Always has been. But there are more really expensive choices out there...
In search for speakers of "natural" sound
Ohm Walsh with patented CLS (Coherent Line Source) driver would be worth a listen for something totally different and very natural sounding.    I think they have a demo room at upcoming Capital Audifest in DC area.
How can anyone want more......Just a very happy listener.

Best all British, except cables, system you heard or can think of.
DNM very good British wires. I use them everywhere.
Where is my digital problem: taste, vinyl v. digital, DAC, realities, etc?
JB, good to hear that!I have Chord Mojo and mhdt NOS Constantine DAC. I use both in my setup depending on mood. Both very good but very different sound! For one who finds digital too edgy in general I’d go with the NOS Constantine. NOS DACs in gen...
The current best band in the world?
In particular check out the fairly recent Crimson live set "Radical Action to Unseat the Hold of Monkey Mind (live)". Awesome! 🙉
What Characteristic Strikes You First About Un-amplified Music?
Nothing specific really.   I find when things are going right,  what I hear  is more a function of the room I'm listening in, where I am in it relative to the source of sound ( which determines the "perspective" on the music, something not often t...
Where is my digital problem: taste, vinyl v. digital, DAC, realities, etc?
Try a non oversampling DAC like an mhdt.  I still like my older SS Constantine but you can roll tubes in their tube dacs to further tweak the sound if desired.
The current best band in the world?
There are several (audiophile ready) crimson live recordings from over the years on Spotify. Not the most jolly music but top notch all around. The band is out of sight and current vocalist Jakko Jakszyk actually takes the vocals to a higher level...
