Should a reference speaker be neutral, or just great sounding?
The biggest mistake people can make with hifi is spending money while having no reference to determine what it is they are trying to accomplish sound wise. The second biggest mistake is thinking all recordings should sound a particular way. That w...
Digital streamer signal issue with ethernet vs wifi
Very possible the network wire is picking up nasty things that make it into the streamer to dac signal path . Never have had that problem with wireless WiFi.
How to insert album cover art on music files?
Technically, no audio degradation if done lossless at same resolution and a good quality streamer that works with flac format is used. Try it and see. There is always a chance some streamers do better with one format than another Even if source mu...

Ozzy wav format might be an issue for what you want to do. Wav format is not inherently flexible with tagging. Never tried Wav with these tools. I started with wav and used dbpoweramp to bulk convert wav to lossless flac which is very flexible wit...
How to insert album cover art on music files?
Yes the dbpoweramp editor has an option to select image files you store on a directory on your computer. Picard might also not sure.  Never tried.
How to insert album cover art on music files?
Picard can be downloaded for free. Very powerful and able to auto tag and add album art automatically in many cases.if you already own and rip using dbpoweramp the editor is included.  Otherwise a nominal cost to download.

It can be changes in how the listener focuses while listening alone that results in shifts within the soundstage.
How to insert album cover art on music files?
I use the music file editor that comes with dbpoweramp to Manually fix tags and art as needed.  Just right click on the files and tag and add artwork as needed. In most cases dbpoweramp does a good job of adding cover art at rip time.   If not the...

Another happy ending.   👍
Wharfedale Linton Heritage vs...
I demoed the Lintons and really wanted to like them but I found them hard to listen to. The sound was just a total mess. Shouty, unfocused and incoherent. Something may have been amiss. The amp used was a basic a/v amp so maybe that was it who kno...
What have you been working on in 2020?
Mostly just enjoying the music but upgraded the computer I run my music servers on a few months ago. Also adjusted placement of the kef ls50s a tad and adjusted bass levels on Ohm F5s. Everything else is locked in so I leave it alone.

Practically reference with this stuff is a pretty useless term though it is good for everyone to know their own personal reference when they hear it otherwise one may flounder chasing unknowns.
Looking for new speakers
What soix said. Try a different source other than phono and see if a problem there too. If there is then it’s amp or speakers. If not that would point to phono rig or phono section of amp. Troubleshooting expensive component systems is not easy bu...
Looking for new speakers
If you hear distortion with new gear upstream, can’t rule out the possibility something there is the source. If it corresponds to the speed of the turntable, could well be an issue with the phono section of your system. What cartridge is being use...
Tin Foil Hat Audio
Also don’t forget that just because something is there does not mean it is better, just different.
