Class D amps that are superior to all or most?
I will go out on a limb and say Class D amps as a group outshine most of the others as a group. The lesser ones are still good for the cost and the best ones compete with the best.I say that as an owner running class d amps that range in cost from...
PS audio new 25K dac and the psychological effect of owning a company's best.
I am grateful for what I have.   Some of it is not  too shabby.
Reasonably sensitive speakers for tube amps, max $2k/pair, new or used
The lower power only means peak SPLs will be more limited in general and that may or may not be an issue depending how loud they need and how far from speakers they will be when listening. 40 watts can drive many speakers to decent levels and if a...
So how much do you think the placebo effect impacts our listening preferences?
Real Audiophiles are too smart and special to be affected by any placebo effect.
Why the cost increase?
"the dough they let you have is yeastless manna" No you just have to invest it wisely to see it rise. It’s the only way to get ahead. All part of the game. Everybody play the game! The game of life.Hint: Expensive audio gear and tweaks are a VERY ...
Why the cost increase?

What is best sub to match with Magnepan?
Don’t know the best but my local dealer always ran Rel subs with Magnepans and his setups always sounded sublime.  The man had golden ears. I used an old M&K with mine when I had them. It was fine.

Can a power surge cause amp to clip?
If there was an audible sound heard from the speakers as a result of a power surge it’s very possible the amp clipped while making it.  If it did it could damage the speakers.   Check everything out.  Hopefully sounds same as prior and everything ...

Magnepan, Best midrange?
I should be more specific and say they are best/most special well away from rear wall.  Maybe 1/3 or more of the way into the room.  Not so much side walls.
Magnepan, Best midrange?
Best is subjective. Maggie’s midrange is fine. With Magnepans it’s not about that. Others have good midrange as well. More about overall dynamics and type of music listened to and subjective determinations by each person regarding what they want t...
To Stream or not to Stream
Don’t make it so hard.  It isn’t.  Just do it.  A good quality DAC is the key.

What’s the biggest mismatch you’ve seen, heard, or done?
Tube Audio Design Hibachi amps (no feedback) driving kef ls50s. Yuck. Completely flat and lifeless.  Big time impedance mismatch.
