Pet audiophile peeves - name yours
That omnidirectional speakers are not the norm with audiophiles.
What are you tweaking this weekend?
Maybe my wife’s nerves. Will tweak the music I listen to, not the same thing over and over. The hifi itself is quite tuned in the way I like it at the moment.  Hope I don’t jinx myself by saying that.
AGD Audio Mk2 review
I think I will get to hear these AGD amps next weekend.  Looking forward to it.
How important Is shielding with RCA wires? (Ethan Winer, new video)
It’s safer to be shielded....just like being vacinnated......or a condom, except you only have to do it once. Non-shielded, POTENTIALLY more problematic and can be for real and easily heard (or not so easily even in other cases) as I related abov...
Primaluna?
Rogue?
How important Is shielding with RCA wires? (Ethan Winer, new video)
Most important with low level phono signals. Less so elsewhere. My go to RCA ICs are DNM Reson ...unshielded. For phono as well. They are affordable and MOST coherent. Had to do some alternate shielding to enable that without inducted noise. My HV...
Playing CDs sounds better than Qobuz — dammit
Make sure you are comparing apples/apples ie the same cd release. Many popular CDs have various remastered releases over the years and streaming services tend to lean towards newer releases which also tend to be mastered louder. Also possible the ...
The Boss is the Bo$$
I grew up in Pennsylvania, lived in Jersey for a bit and graduated from Rutgers in the early 80’s . Needless to say Bruce Springsteen was worshiped by the kids from Jersey my age at Rutgers which was most. He came from a very blue-collar NJ backg...
Do we really know what "Live" music sounds like?
The musicians may not know what it sounds like from various seats in the concert hall. Nor what it sounds like in venues they have not performed in. Nor concert musicians what it sounds like in a recording studio and vice versa. Nor musicians reco...
Audio Research VSi75 - End of Tube Life? KT120 vs KT150?
The voltage would have more to do with the gain whereas the impedance more to do with distortion levels and dynamics.
Audio Research VSi75 - End of Tube Life? KT120 vs KT150?
@decooney  The technical key to integrating a tube preamp (high output impedance typically) with any SS amp including Class D is the impedance matching.  Some basic  class D amps have only 10 kohm input impedance, which is not a good match.  40ko...
Audio Research VSi75 - End of Tube Life? KT120 vs KT150?
The differences you describe do not sound unheard of in general when switching tubes. I stopped pursuing tube amps when I realized I was rolling tubes to get more towards a sound more inherent to SS: clean,,crisp and dynamic, not soft and warm. I ...
Recommendation for Digital Coax
When in doubt I go Mogami whenever I can.
Do we really know what "Live" music sounds like?
If we don’t who does?
Heard it live….and now at home
It's an iphone app called decibel and yes it is a freebie. Measured 120 db at the Raven's NFL game yesterday.  Yikes!
