mo' better bass: any substitute for watts?
Atmasphere,Thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights in this discussion. My question is how can I tell by listening to a system whether use of negative feedback is having a noticeable negative effect on what I hear short of an a/b r...
Does anyone out there NOT hear a difference in CD
Music is an art.Recording is an art based on scienceAudio is mostly a science.A successful system is one that works well as a whole and consistently allows the key elements of the recorded art to shine through and produce enjoyment, despite the in...
Help me spend $5,000 on a 5.1 speaker system
How about a surround system with all omni-directional speakers for under $5000?Take a look at www.ohmspeakers.com.I'm not a surround sound kind of guy ( I have a simple 2 channel A/V system in addition to my main audio system), but if I were, this...
Would classic klipsch work here?
Go to Best Buy and listen to a pair of Klipsch RB-51s or something similar before you do anything else. They are not too expensive, very compact to match your quarters, and sound very good.
Ribbons caught my att.- should I buy or build?
Yes, larger Maggies work best in larger rooms like most speakers with large sound radiating areas, which would include the big Infinitys as well, and also require careful placement for best results.I think I read somewhere recently though that Mag...

Does anyone out there NOT hear a difference in CD
CD players all sound different just like other components, but most CD players these days are at least decent...I've never heard anything decent in good working order that sounded BAD on a decent system.Generally, I think 20 or 24 bit oversampling...
What amp to power hungry energy veritas 2.2's ?
I'm assuming you mean a stereo amp for a pair of Energys. You may want to try something geared for optimal two channel performance that delivers more current per channel, as opposed to watts. You can pick up a used Musical fidelity A3CR like the one...
Bookshelf speakers and complex/orchestra
I'd have to believe your Sonus Faber Concertinos can do a very nice job with orchestral music if set up properly.First , of course, make sure both speakers are hooked up properly and in phase (+ to +, - to -). Then definitely work on speaker place...
Record you spin on a rainy Saturday w/ family gone
Greendale is another lesser known great Neil Young spin.
What music do you want to play really loud?
"All the Young Girls Love Alice" - Elton JohnWhenever I play this, the volume always heads up, up and more up!!!
Are horns and hi-eff designs becoming more popular
Volleyguy,Call me crazy or a romantic or whatever, but I still retain my visions of proudly owning Klipschorns someday! Thanks.
mo' better bass: any substitute for watts?
Atmasphere,is it accurate to say that a higher current amp with wattage X will generally produce as good as or better bass than a lower current amp also of wattage X, depending on load, and all other factors aside? In my case, I can vouch for the f...
