I've been called a lot of things over the years.... but never eloquent! Thanks! You made a good move with the Totems. They will hold their value well. Maybe you'll get a chance to try the Ohms someday if desired with little or no financial loss alo...

Gallos ohms mirages or deuvels
"The Omniguide's proportions of front, side, and rearward dispersion make for a realistic, scalable soundstage, plenty of soundstage depth, and more image specificity than you get with a bipolar or typical omni pattern"Ohm dispersion is similar (l...
Gallos ohms mirages or deuvels
Pedrillo,Found this below about Duevel Bella Luna. Makes some interesting comparison with MBL specifically. Claims MBL use of multiple drivers in the same frequency range for omni dispersion can have some downside.I do like the design (both appear...

What's up with Harmon Kardon receiver line?
HK has always produced unique looking designs generally with pretty good and distinctive sound as well, I'd say. I think those who go for HK a/v equipment are attracted to the unique appearance and control layout, some but fewer to the distinctive...
Gallos ohms mirages or deuvels
Ohm over Gallo Reference on all three counts. Gallo imaging compared to Ohm with everything set up properly is probably the closest call. The Ohms are hard to beat in the transparency and sound stage departments. Never heard deuvals so not sure. P...
Will new Class D trump a vintage Class A/AB?
Maybe. Class D is certainly a high value option if buying new today and you have speakers with a demanding load that like to suck power and current.Let us know what you find.
Questions about Preamp Tubes
Mechans,Your points ring true. I'd agree you can get more inherent "tubiness" from a power amp than a pre amp since the signal transformation that occurs in the power amp is of much greater magnitude than that which occurs in the pre-amp.But I thi...
Questions about Preamp Tubes
Detlof, Which two phono pre-amps are you comparing? What is the rest of the system?
Questions about Preamp Tubes
Newbee,"What I hear when I listen to a tube component, as compared to a ss component, is the tube component lacks what I would call 'grain'."I think this is the essence of it.But the question to me is it natural grain or artificially introduced by...
