I think I've made up my mind
Tvad,I think I recall you indicating in prior discussions that you believe higher amp input impedance generally leads to directly observable improved bass performance, or something to that effect, which technically sounds viable to me.In that case...

Tvad,The match may be within range but 30K ohm is still towards the low end of the SS amp input impedance range from what I've seen, which seems to be around 10K ohm. I've seen balanced input impedances on SS amps up to 200K ohms or so.
speakers that work well with class D amp?
I agree with Semi's description of the Class D sound and his assessment of how it might synergize or not with different sounding speakers. Technically, it may be a good match on paper but its true that too much of certain ingredients can sometimes...
Power output of tube amps compared to solid states
Atmasphere,Interesting.Does Wilson then state that the Watt/Puppy was designed to work best with tube amps, or is that just the way it happened to turn out.If not, then it sounds more like the Wilson design is flawed however a tube amp might be th...
speakers that work well with class D amp?
Yes, OHMs + class D = match made in heaven. Not just newer OHM Walsh designs but older OHM conventional box designs like the OHM L sound better than ever (and better than many newer designs as well perhaps) now off a Bel Canto Class D amp.Dynaudio ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Bondmanp,You might consider some simple home grown solutions in order to get the OHMs to sit squarer. Anything that helps to stabilize them can only help the sound. How about some $5.00 felt pads from Home Depot underneath to square things up (sim...

The best speaker you ever heard?
Ultramanhero,You were my favorite super hero as a kid!
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
There is quantity of bass and quality of bass. Amps with higher damping factors tend to work well with the larger OHMs at least I believe. When I was amp hunting, I only considered amps with damping factors > 50. My old Carver was lower and had...

Mick Taylor is out on a US solo tour currently. I'll be going to see him next month! Can't wait!Any decent condition original vinyl or standard CD issue of SF should do. Don't overpay! Which you prefer will be mostly a matter of taste (like most t...

Its only about 10% of a $60,000 system, reasonable tweak territory I would say. I think there are probably more than a few of those out there.IS it the most effective way to spend that 10%? HEy if you have those kind of bucks, who cares?Let's do o...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I'm very interested in hearing people's impressions of the new and improved 1000's series drivers versus the older series 3 drivers that I have in both pair of OHM Walshes and were used in MWTs from the outset, I believe.Having not heard the lates...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Ron,You will not be the first to supplement the OHMs with a sub when driven off a tube amp. It may be par for the course.
Power output of tube amps compared to solid states
Atmasphere,What speakers cannot be driven by SS and why? Thanks!
I think I've made up my mind
All very good stuff. Looks like you considered a nice variety of system types before deciding, which is very smart. Two things worth considering I might add:1) A tube pre-amp might work very well with that amp!2) Did you consider OHM Walsh speakers...
