Why not horns?
WOw, shouty all caps in a horn thread. That's sure to not be very popular here! Horn lovers can be quite sensitive!
"God Bless the Child" on Idol?
Scotty Too Hotty, warp 10......NOW!
Pink Floyd
Ironically, Pink Floyd will probably live on for a long time like the Beatles in that they have a core set of compositions that will continue to appeal to new youths over time while the aging original fans lose interest somewhat compared to other ...
how close in sound can a tube and ss amp sound ?
"Can we agree that it takes a 150 watt SS amp to duplicate a 75 watt tube amp?" In terms of listenable volume, often the case, but there are some soft clipping SS amps that might not fit this mold as much as most. Also a 75 watt SS amp may be more ...
"God Bless the Child" on Idol?
I thought Tyler's comment about Lauren winning a round because she was prettier was hilarious but also quite insightful perhaps in that it really is mostly a popularity contest at this point more so than who is better or the best. Or as Dwayne "Th...
Pink Floyd
I did see the Dead live once. Was greatly looking forward to it but was quite underwhelmed. It was a free concert at college graduation. Maybe that was part of it.I also saw Robert Hunter and the New Riders of the Purple sage live back in college....
Pink Floyd
The Grateful Dead plodded on and on with a lot of mediocre performances and recordings for the faithful a lot more than Pink Floyd.Pink Floyd's output is a lot more concise and meaty than the Dead's.PF was at leat innovative in their day, FBOFW. T...

Most PF I have sounds good enough already.PF and audiophilia have always had a pretty decent relationship.Hey, but just because they sell it doesn't mean I have to buy it.Only a semi-yawn at this point

TG,I see your point in that neither technology has a lock on all aspects of the "absolute" sound of live music. But both technologies do tend to have some unique strengths and weaknesses in general that tend to distinguish them so I think it is a f...
how close in sound can a tube and ss amp sound ?
Just picked up a pair of TAD 125 Hibachi amps for my second system and am giving these a whirl. These seem to fit the bill as an attempt to emulate tube sound with a SS amp.Too early to draw firm conclusions but I will say so far that these do hav...
"God Bless the Child" on Idol?
Sheesh, Lauren really got to lay it on thick to close yesterday's show with that song about mothers (the GOOD kind).I thought Scotty had it locked up with the Idol demographic, but maybe not now....
Review: Tube Audio Design Hibachi Monoblocks TAD 125 Amplifier
I picked up a pair of these last week and got them hooked up last night into my family room 2 channel a/v system and got a little initial listening in.So far, my impressions are consistent with Jaymark and these seem to represent a fabulous value....
What is my next step to a better sound ?
Useless to discuss changing anything until you say what you think the current deficiencies in the sound are and what you are wanting to hear that you do not currently.Have the people indicating the DAC is the problem actually heard it? I have not,...
Biggest Baddest Audio Cables
The only thing to keep in mind with DNM is that they are not shielded and I have found can pick up RF noise, for example if used with switching amps, in some cases more easily than typical shielded designs.Other than that, they are golden.
FM tuners - Are they OBSOLETE ?
Not obsolete in the sense of no longer having any real value or merit, as is the case say with typewriters since the advent of the home computer, but certainly of limited interest to most compared to the latest and greatest gadgets available that ...
