Bel Canto vs Mcintosh
Tough to compare.I've heard Totem Mani 2 powered by a current TOTL Mac SS amp. I can compare to BC ref1000mkII in my system running Dynaudio Contour 1.3 mkII.The Mac/Totem comb was very good, except I found it a bit too hot on the top end and thou...
Are audiophile speakers turn on for single women?
i wonder if Manley gear impresses the girls?
The Beatles Mono CD Box Set
foster,of course, be careful about tweaking things to optimize any particular recording. all recordings are of course different and have their pluses and minuses. optimizing one that does not have the top end you are expecting could push others th...
Speakers that excel at depth/layering/space
mbl if you have a suitable room.dynaudio contour 1.3mkii in smaller rooms.also ohm walsh properly matched to room.as you can tell, integration of speaker into room is key to get good imaging depth imho.
Bel Canto Ref 1000MK2 or Wyred SX1000MK2
they both should do quite well.the bcs have a beefed up power supply that may offer more punch and clarity overall but for a premium.
Cryo'ed LP's
Haven't done it, just a guess but I would expect the records to sound colder, less warm after wards, more like digital.I'm only half kidding on this.....
The Beatles Mono CD Box Set
Emerson,Can't say I hear any general high end roll off with these. The quality of recordings from disk to disk does vary greatly still but there are really no steps backwards with any of these compared to the original CD masters that I can clearly ...
How close to the real thing?
I agree with Atmasphere on this one.The barrier is/has not been the technology, more the technique applied in making recordings. The best ones can be eerily close to lifelike in the right situation and it has been that way for quite a while, probab...
Surface Noise - another question
The rigs may be dead quiet but records as a whole are not.CDs are dead quiet pretty much all of the time.Again good quality records in good shape may be very quiet to the extent that noise is a non-issue but these represent only a portion of recor...
Are audiophile speakers turn on for single women?
Yes, Hugh Hefner is the reference standard when it comes to knowing how to impress girls!
Surface Noise - another question
"Have found that when my vinyl rig is dialed in including VTA & VTF, that the surface noise is less than when not optimized."No doubt a properly tracking stylus will produce less noise. In this case, the noise may occur when the stylus is opera...
Surface Noise - another question
If the issue is surface noise, an upgrade will accomplish nothing except decrease your funds. If the issue is with the gear not performing well and creating noise, then fix it but be sure to isolate where the noise is coming from beforehand otherwi...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Yes, I am very interested in hearing more peoples impressions of the latest and greatest OHM drivers and how these compare.
How close to the real thing?
"Are we making progress and how close are we?"I doubt it.What you hear from a particular recording on your rig in your room is distinct in almost every way from what you hear at any particular live performance in a particular venue.I question whet...
Surface Noise - another question
Only some records in near perfect condition deliver virtually no surface noise. For most records in the real world, surface noise is part of the game. If you do not hear it on a particular rig, then either it (along with part of the actual recorded...
