What music is best for life in a tiny box?
"So, as a start, I think I am going to go with the new V-DAC II and the Creek OBH-11. I will continue to use my AKG 240s. So $550 is a modest start, and I will see where to go from there. What are your thoughts?"Sounds Fine.I've heard some AKG phon...
Do powercords make a difference in sound?
The simplest answer is: maybe. No doubt they can.But in some cases they may not. Also, when this topic comes up, I like to point out that powercords do not have a "sound". What they have is the ability to affect the quality of the sound the device t...
What time do you wear?
I just payed $3500 for a new Trane air conditioner.Would've likely cost $1000 or more to try to keep the old one running, and its not even something that most people might keep around as a family heirloom.
Do powercords make a difference in sound?
Tbg,Sounds like we agree on more than disagree.I wouldn't compare the technical complexity of building a good PC or launching a successful space mission to that required of a power cord though. Very poor analogies!Plus the space program is governm...
Do powercords make a difference in sound?
TBG,I said some PCs are overengineered and overpriced and not a good value, not all.I'll stand by that assertion with no problem whatsoever.ALso that making a good power cord is not rocket science.GEtting lots of clean power when needed in general...
Do powercords make a difference in sound?
Clean power does, however best that is achieved. Power cords alone may be hit or miss. Current delivery capability and a good ground are keys. This is not rocket science. Personally I believe a lot of power cords are overengineered for the task at...
Triangle Titus 202 or Triangle Comete ES?
Interesting info. Thanks.I've enjoyed my Titus XS now for many years and have often thought about trying other larger Triangle models. Their versatility and cost effectiveness is tough to beat!
What does one purchase after owning horns?
A hearing aid?Not from normal or proper use so much, though the increased potential to do harm to ones ears is certainly there even then, but you have to wonder about the potential of high efficiency speakers to do harm to your hearing especially ...
Looking for Integrated Amp for Dynaudio 1.3 MkII's
The 1.3 mkIIs can be a touch hot sounding on the top end with some amps and are a tad towards the warm side of sound overall. That and their appetite for juice makes Class D amps a very good option.Toe out/indirect tweeter orientation can be used i...
Looking for Integrated Amp for Dynaudio 1.3 MkII's
Yes, they like lots of SS juice. Icepower works well with these Dyns. The Wyred integrated is where I would probably look as well.
What's more important: phono stage or amp
Always address the weakest link in order to maximize value.
Having an ear for Jazz
Always liked it. Watching Ken Burn's Jazz series when it ran on PBS took my appreciation to a higher level.
In the under $2500 category, diminishing returns?
rogue cronus tube amp mates well with mmg and is in your general range and a good value. add a sublater if needed and you have a pretty sweet rig.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
OHm sold me as a salesperson at Tech Hifi where I had access to many speakers, but the OHMs were always the best sounding to me at almost any common price point back then.I started with OHM Ls and graduated to Walsh 2s around 1982 or so after. Mag...
OK, now I know about Audio Note dacs....
Anyone ever compared an Audio Note DAC with an mhdt Constantine?
