"martin collums measured THD at 110 db"For those kinds of volumes, except perhaps in the case of smaller rooms, good horns in particular, like Avantgarde should shine and be a safe choice.Again, the advantage is efficiency and the ability to GO LO...
What CDP gets really close to vinyl?
"My real excitement about this whole experience is that really decent digital playback has seemingly arrived at a reasonable price point. "Glad to hear that. Also glad to know I am not totally whacked when I make whacky claims like good digital doe...

"Then again maybe its them ole ears, eh Mapman? I hear ya:)"No doubt years of training ones ears listening to different things makes a big difference, even if the ability to discern the higher frequencies one could hear as a youth goes mostly down...

"It is too bad that the technology of the playback of the time wasn't in step with the engineering and quality of pressings, especially in the 50's when the LP was in its infancy."That is a fact.Hifi and stereo recordings were a big deal in market...
Does a Class D amp match well with Thiel Speakers?

"The Heat Pipes are coming"... The Heat Pipes are
On a scale of 1-10 where 10 is the most important thing to consider for good sound, I'd say heat pipes are a -5.
Does a Class D amp match well with Thiel Speakers?
I think everyone agree they need power and current. That means either Krell like big heavy and inefficient monster amp or smaller, more manageable and energy efficient Class D.
Do you remember your first cd?
Fresh Air 2 by Mannheim Steamroller.
Does a Class D amp match well with Thiel Speakers?
Class D is the first place I would look to power Thiels well.I use an ARC tube pre-amp with my Class D amp and power and current hungry OHM speakers and find that to be a very effective combo. Not all Class Ds are equally tube preamp friendly. Ones...
