SME 20/3 or Oracle Delphi VI or Garrard 301
Mauidj,I havent heard the Oracle Delphi VI. The opportunity to hear high end turntables in my ends at my front door, and mine are not at the highest end. I think that if I had a Delphi VI/Graham Phantom/Dyna XV1s combo I would probably stop right ...
What are your favorite phono cartridges?
I am enjoying my Monster Genesis 1000 on my Fat Bob and Benz Micro Glider II H on my Oracle Delphi IV. But overall, I have always liked the Dynavector Ruby series, including the 23, 23r, 23rs and 17d2. They just seem to do everything well. For a MM...
SME 20/3 or Oracle Delphi VI or Garrard 301
If you are considering TW you might also want to look at a Transrotor. I was firmly in the Oracel camp until I picked up a Transrotor Fat Bob a few months ago. A very superior bearing, even quieter in operation than the Oracle, which was the quiet...
SME 20/3 or Oracle Delphi VI or Garrard 301
Dover,Why would you make the assinine comment that Oracle has been in and out of business a number of times. You obviously do not know of what you speak, and to defame a reputable, long standing manufacturer like that is just irresponsible and sug...
Motor Controller ugrade for Raven One Turntable
I can't imagine why someone would hate a particular manufacturer of turntables. The Raven seems reasonably well built, with accepted design choices. I'm not sure that you could ever perfectly calibrate 3 motors to run at exactly the same speed wit...
A $300-$400 turntable tweak
I believe the magnetic bearing in the Project RM10 only unloads the platter from the bearing and doesnt isolate it completely under the same theory that a drain path is desirable. So essentially you have a regular bearing with minimal load and the...
Motor Controller ugrade for Raven One Turntable
I guess I will still never get an answer as to why this upgrade to a motor controller had such a profound effect. And that is my only reason for commenting on this thread. To find out why so I can extrapolate to other systems. But alas, it was not...
Motor Controller ugrade for Raven One Turntable
Much of that assumes a constant motor speed, which is a big assumption. But if you have a constant motor speed, what is it that different motor controllers or belt material or anything else is doing to affect the sound. By definition, a change is ...
Motor Controller ugrade for Raven One Turntable
I am not questioning the quality of a TW turntable and they are probably a fine product. What I am questioning is the reason for an "astounding" difference in sound by just changing a motor controller, whose sole purpose is to make sure the motor ...
Motor Controller ugrade for Raven One Turntable
So the question still arises, how bad can the stock motor controller be that a replacement is "nothing short of astounding". And shame on TW if the stock controller is that bad on a table costing that much. since the only thing a motor is supposed...
Motor Controller ugrade for Raven One Turntable
It can't. And no one yet has explained why it should in anything close to the laws of physics. And if the motor is so bad that a new power cord is necessary to make it listenable, there is much more wrong with the system.
Motor Controller ugrade for Raven One Turntable
Changing caps in a phono stage is not the same as changing caps in a motor controller. In the phono stage, the signal actually goes through it. In the motor controller, all you are doing is controlling the speed of the motor. so either you are tur...
A $300-$400 turntable tweak
Rockitman,I dont know if I agree with your statement that the additional weight will not affect a magnetic bearing. Depending on the strength of the magnet, it may not be able to maintain the separation between the bearing surfaces. And with some ...
pure ipod dock
Sorry, yes you are right, the Wadia doesnt have a DAC,it only allows you to hook up to a DAC and avoids the use of the inboard Ipod DAC. I could have just looked up at my set up to have seen that. Its been a while since I hooked it up.
Motor Controller ugrade for Raven One Turntable
Since a motor controller upgrade can only affect the stability of the speed of the turntable, how bad can the original speed be for there to be a huge improvement in the sound. I mean, seriously, I have been hearing this a lot lately, and I have t...
