SME 309 and SOTA Sapphire - Cable & Cartridge Help I have a Sota Star with SME 309 using a variety of cartidges. No problem mounting the stock cable, or any other that I have tried, right angle or not. It is a very nice combination that will do justice to just about any cartridge you want to put o...
A $300-$400 turntable tweak To some extent, there is bound to be a trade off in using a record weight and ring. While you will flatten records and get better coupling between record and platter, you may increase bearing noise through the added weight of those two pieces. Tha...
pure ipod dock The ipod doc uses the ipod's internal DAC to put out an analogue signal that you can hear. The Pure has its own internal DAC, so it takes the pure digital feed from the Ipod and runs it through a better DAC. Only the pure and the Wadia do this as ...
pure ipod dock Most of what I listen to on the ipad is copies of my vinyl, ripped to cd and then to Itunes at apple lossless resolution. I didnt know there was a way to have everything at the same volume. Of course, now somehow my entire itunes library disappear...

Anyone compare budget phono oft recomended? I also have a GCPH that I purchased new for 499. It has been used alongside a Simaudio lp5.3 and what little difference there might be is not noticeable to me as one being better than the other.
pure ipod dock I havent had enough time with side by side comparison of the two since I hooked the pure into a different system, but I would say the pure is at least the equal of the wadia so for the price it is a real bargain.
Suggestions for building system There is nothing wrong with buying a turntable on ebay, just make sure the seller knows how to pack and ship it. I have sold and shipped a number of tables without any damage whatsoever. I have received a few tables that were wrecked, and it is al...

Got the table now I need a good arm and cart combo you should be able to get one from townshend itself. They still use the same setup on the newer tables, just a double version.
Got the table now I need a good arm and cart combo The rega RB300 is a match for the townshend. In fact, their excalibur tonearm is based on an RB300 with different bearings and other stuff depending on the version. The Rock III will take a high energy cartidge, especially when using the trough. D...
Good turntable needed, need recomendations. Sorry you took my comment as being inappropriate. As you noted, that would be out of character. What I was trying to convey is that I was trying very hard to understand what was being said, and getting very frustrated at my inability to work throu...
Ohio Vinylohiles, and other who love analog fronts Which version of the Rock did you get. They are very underrated tables, as I am just now learing since I got one a few weeks ago. Mine is the Elite Rock III. Let us know what you think after you have played it a bit.
Ohio Vinylohiles, and other who love analog fronts If I had to own and use only one it would probably be the Oracle Delphi just because it sounds good and I like the looks. The Transrotor Fat Boy and Sota Star w/vacuum are probably better on an absolute scale but I am now playing a Townshend Rock ...
Which receiver for better sound with vinyl? the Nikko stuff from the late 70's had a pretty good phono stage, so its probably the cartridge that needs work. Hook it up to the Denon aux input and it should be fine. Dont run it into the Denon's phono input. |
