Anybody having trouble getting near-your-asking-price for used gear ? (Plz. no hype)

Fine tuning the system. Where do you start and how do you proceed ?
You seem to have no major issue with the current system.  What exactly do you think could be improved.   My suggestion is to make sure that you have a comfy listening seat, and adult beverage of your choice, and play music with obsessing about wh...
External blu-ray disc player/writer - can I burn a blu-ray disc?
Is it just one disc that won’t play, or all of them?   An external Optical drive that plays Blu Rays should work to play the discs.  Copying them to a server , or even another disc, is another kettle of fish.  It might be possible but probably not...
What exactly is ROON?
You don’t “need” Roon.  It helps organize music from streaming services and music that you may be storing on a server(s) into one area and then provides interesting factoids about the recording.  If you want to know how many fifths of vodka Jon Bo...
My Esoteric DV-50S died. Where do I go next?
Expensive gear ought to be serviceable ad infinitum , but the reality is that it is not.  I’ve noticed a disproportionate amount of complaints about Esoteric in this regard, but I think it probably applies to all high end companies .  If you got 2...

I don’t churn gear but this an interesting thread.  I suspect that @mapman nailed the reasons
Qobuz and Chandos
Try contacting Chandos. They sold out to somebody so you might have Google around. Hopefully it’s a temporary disruption. Score another point for Physical Media . Edit-I just looked it up. Chandos was sold to Naxos in 2024.  Naxos and Qobuz appa...
Best Exercise To Improve Capability Of Handling Heavy Amps
As a retired Primary Care Physician I would recommend starting with a Physical Therapist, particularly one with experience in Occupational Medicine.  The major health risk here would be blowing your back out.  Even if you don’t do serious structur...
DAC recommendation for DSD input
I am unclear after reading the thread here as to whether or not the OP DAC in the Hegel does native DSD without a PCM conversion.   I haven’t heard the DAC in the Hegel so I can’t comment from experience . However if it doesn’t do native DSD and...
Do you listen to your music with your eyes open or closed or a combination of both?
As I age, if I close my eyes while listening to, sleep beckons.
Streamer, no DAC please?
I’d get the WiimPro for around $100.  The app is great.  If streaming is fun and if you feel the need for something more pricey to squeeze out that missing 2% of SQ then go for it
Hearing Aids
Thanks for the update.  I have decided that when I recover from my knee surgery this spring that I will intensely pursue an upgrade
Bluesound Node versions SQ
I had 2 Nodes that got hung up and died on updates, both past the warranty period. Dirac is nice but you might investigate shm.  They are Hong Kong based and make streamers coupled with Dirac.  Or if you have DAC, I really recommend the Wiim Pro,...
Why are DAC's so much more expensive than transports?
Great Question. I recently bought a Wiim Pro for $100.  It’s intended for my basement HT system, which had been Physical Media only.  It sounds great.  I moved it to the big two channel rig and an experiment running it into same Bryston DAC as my...
Streamer Recommendations
I really enjoy my Cambridge Audio CXN 100 .  I use an external DAC but the included DAC was pretty decent, and it’s since been upgraded to an ESS Sabre Chip.  The Stream Magic app is easy to work with and finds most of the music on my NAS easily (...
