@arnold_h  I am curious as to why you don’t use the in from the TV with your 205
Let the best be your guide
@rvpiano     Many Classical recordings from the first few decades of stereo were mixed with following assumptions in mind: 1) Listeners would be using AM Radios  2) If using a Hi Fi system, speakers would be bookshelf models, in small rooms, w...
New streamer needed
@ghdprentice    I curious as to your statement about the future of Roon.  I am not a Roon user and have no axe to grind here.   I have seen it used and while it impressive I just simply don’t need it.   I have wondered why a company like Apple ...
A treat for those who like classical piano
Scriabin is one composer that just never clicked with me.  It puzzles me because Chopin, Debussy, and Rachmaninov are 3 of my essentials, but outside of the odd bit from a Horowitz recital, he bores me
Adding streaming services to a streamer via usb
Google Chromecast sounds excellent and doesn’t require a physical connection.  The new CA streamers in the $500 range do Chromecast.  Might be worth the investment by the OP just for that and AirPlay ( not as good as Chromecast but definitely bett...
Digital Preamp with USB-input but without a DAC?
@yyzsantabarbara    aren’t there streamers, or more correctly perhaps Network Players, sans DACs, that usb inputs, take the digital input from an external storage device such as a flash drive, and then send that unconverted stream to an external...
New streamer needed
@davidtru  +1 to add to his questions, can the DAC stage of the current CD player be used by the streamer(digital ins)), since the OP likes the sound?

Gilbert Rowland is the harpsichordist on the Naxos albums that I referenced earlier

I’ll have to find Hewitt Rameau.  I’ve found her Bach to be generally good but somewhat uneven.   @newbee so my first Rameau exposure was around 30 years ago when the Naxos label emerged with budget Classical CDs and greatly expanded the repertoi...

It’s a conundrum in that poor recordings exist, and the better systems reveal all the warts.  For example the CD transfers of Wilhelm Kempff stereo recordings of Beethoven, Schubert, and Schumann are barely listenable on my two channel system (and...
The Emperor Has No Clothes!!
+1 @hifiguy42  My friends ask why my stereo costs more than my car.  The answer is my stereo takes me to places that my car cannot
The Emperor Has No Clothes!!
@mdalton   First off, I haven’t heard a streamer that is “tube like” but I’ve only heard a small fraction of streamers out there.  There are CDPs that use tubes ; is it really nuts for a streamer to do the same. Secondly, do non audiophiles laug...
Recommendations for good WiFi speakers
@ellajeanelle    I didn’t watch the video, but don’t the KEFs have be plugged into an outlet?
DAC suggestions for a reasonably modest system
@njcardave  +1 on the Bryston DAC3.  It also has 4 HDMI inputs, which can accept the DSD layers from SACD players able to output DSD
Records and CDs
It’s a complex issue.  There were a lot of analog to digital transfers that were poorly done (I think this more prevalent in pop than Classical).  The playback equipment of the time wasn’t the culprit as much as the transfer engineers.  The playba...
