Stepping into streaming, finally The Wiim and Node are entry level. I haven’t heard the Wiim but have seen enough negative comments about SQ to not want to investigate, although the price of admission makes it tempting. I have a lot of experience with the Node and it gets most ...
Vinyl rips - still worth it? OP are you talking about making your own rips? Or using a streaming service that plays rips? If you make your own rips onto your own storage device, then you own the product
Old phones as streaming sources Another thread derailed by predictable acrimony. I’ve used a phone tethered to my DAC as a streamer just to experiment and yes, it sounded a lot better than I would have expected. Would I want it as my everyday streamer? No, it isn’t that good,...
Cambridge Audio AXN10 experiences I am interested in the component but haven’t heard it. I own 2 CXN 60, and have also owned the Node. I was considering the A10 for my basement HT system, which lacks a streamer since a Node died down there a few years ago. Since you aren’t go...
A quick question on what streamers to consider....... OP You never answered some of the questions posed to you, such as do you have outdoor speakers? And amplifier? It is difficult for @laps and others to advise you how to spend your money when the information is incomplete
on the cheap I use Bluetooth in car, with portable listening, and I also I have a Sony Bluetooth brick that I use in the kitchen, back patio, and bring occasionally on vacation. I purchased an Audioengine Bluetooth receiver over 10 years ago for the mid Fi sy...
on the cheap The problem is that your portable device is then tethered to your system
on the cheap @mattw73 the Op mentioned that his sister might want included storage. It was unclear if he meant rip and store which bumps the price tags a few hundred bucks. If she already has storage on a flash or separate hard drive then that wouldn’t eff...
A quick question on what streamers to consider....... +2 @ketchup OP, for background music out of doors, a decent Bluetooth device will work. You didn’t mention speakers or source. Presumably you will send the WiFi signal from your phone to a Bluetooth or AirPlay receiver but about speakers?
on the cheap +1. @mattw73 Do the Wii have built in storage?
Qobuz hell someone should merge the Qobuz problem threads
Qobuz Playing Games with my bill I tried to cancel and had the same problems you do. I was still being charged despite not being able to play the service and there is no human to contact. I finally canceled the credit card that was being automatically billed.
Do you trust your ears more than measurements? I concur that I found Hilde comment interesting. It's always been the ears for me but there is nothing wrong with experimentation and if measurements facilitate that, why not? However in the end the ears have it.
Help on finding a top quality digital AM-FM mini receiver If the OP only listens to a couple of stations, the phone route works well. I have my favorite Internet Radio stations apps on my phone. However if the OP listens to a bunch of stations, the phone is less practical
Please be gentle with me! 🙏 @alan60 so does the Naim have a DAC? If not then he should definitely do Bluesound and not mess with his phone as a DAC. Now, purely as a transport, the phone might still be equal to the Bluesound, but it probably won't be, and it is a... |
