DACs for Portable Listening
I’ve read several of the reviews of the Dragonfly but don’t recall if there were comparisons to the Oppo.  I will also check out the Mojo
Recommendations for music network player
OPsorry to hear that you are septic.  Perhaps broad spectrum antibiotics and fluid resuscitation may help.  Perhaps a dose of Bluesound may facilitate a quick recovery
Added value of separate server?
@dbphd Bluesound Node 2 doesn’t have a Hard Drive storage.  For storage and CD ripping the Bluesound Vault2 is required.  The Node 2 is a network player with a bypassable DAC.  The Node 2 should be able to recognize your NAS or PC and play it.  Th...
Added value of separate server?
I’ve gone both routes.  Mac&DAC, Bluesound.it come down to whether you would rather use a dedicated audio component—a server, with or without a DAC— or make a computerwork.    There are many theoretical reasons why a computer, with all of the ...
Upgrading digital source device is not easy
Have you thought of adding a Bryston DAC 3?  It can take the DSD stream from and SACD via HDMI
Help a guy out? Renovating home theater system after 10 years and have a few questions.
For the OP, why not get separates for electronics?  Get a nice powerful multichannel amp that will really make the speakers you use sing before you decide to replace them, and add a processor that will do all the new things that your present pre a...

Sony CDP XA2ES is good ?
I own one, now in my second system, a surround system, where it doesn't get much use.  The drawer works fine.  One weird thing is that it cuts off the first two seconds of every disc; I actually have to rewind it after it starts if I want to hear ...
Oppo protection plan ??
My 105 has worked well for the 4 years that I've owned it.  I did wind up calling their customer service a couple of times for issues that turned out not to be related to player.  They were very responsive and helpful.   Oppo gets good marks for p...
Newbie Question
I use the Vault and bypass it’s DAC.  I also coincidentally have the OP Silverline Monitors.  OP is correct that this can be accomplished using Computers only.  Network players are basically Computers whose OS is specialized for the functions requ...
Need upgrade from Denon 1520 and better DAC
Oppo works works easier if a video monitor is attached, particularly for outputting DSD from SACD or playing usb sticks, so I would budget for a monitor.  I use a 19 inch Samsung that cost about $80.
Can you rip SACD data to a music server/hard drive?
I’ve read the threads here, but I have a question.  Currently I listen to SACDs by having my Oppo 105 output DSD into my Bryston DAC-3 which accepts the DSD over HDMI.  Is there a device that I can connect to the DAC that will record directly from...
Is My Onkyo Receiver's Tuner Dead or Just Playing Posum?
I read this thread with interest.  I live outside Chicago, listen to WFMT, and have an Onkyo receiver of approximately the same vintage with a Tuner that’s been on the fritz for about two years now.  In my case I get static, but can’t pull in any ...
Best DAC for my situation...Read on!
You could also try upgrading the Oppo 105 to the 205 and then sell the 105 or plug it into another system
which receiver new $1k or under
One problem with buying last years models are the ever changing standards for HDMI.  It would be nice if this could be future proofed.  Personally, I don’t care for the Marantz house sounds, as it rolls of the top end
