The demise of the music CD inevitable?
Disc rot is nonsense.  My earliest CDs from the mid 80s all play just fine.  Vinyl rot--that's a different story.
Looking for SACD player............
Marantz players tend to roll off the top end.Denon is coming out with a new SACD player.  I'd wait for that
Bryston BDA-3
Thanks neko that was interesting.  There seems to be an issue with a loud 'pop' at the end of tracks played in DSD.
FLAC On A Mac
sbankI took the Oppo data from their web site, which mentioned playing WAV and didn't mention playing AIFF.  In my experience when a component doesn't mention compatibility with a format that means it won't play that format.  I am glad to be corre...

Thanks, Bill K.  Unfortunately neither reviewer comments on the HDMI input

XLD works today without me having to do the above. In the interim, I added a monitor to the system.  I have an Oppo 105 in the system but it was for audio only.  With the monitor added I can now play flac files from it's usb inputs, so now I don't ...
Marantz SA 8005 break in
Agree with the above.  If anything, Marantz players tend to roll off the top end.  If the harshness persists after the break in time I would send it for servicing
'outboard' high end dac's
Meadowmani've been interested in the BDA 3 for it's HDMI input, specifically for SACD and Blu Ray.  Do you have any experience with the HDMI input
Bluesound Node 2
Yes, I meant the interface .  Another poster here described the Classical Interface on Tidal as appearing to have been designed by a Chimpanzee ; that is probably an insult to chimpanzees. Fwiw I didn't think the sonics on Tidal were anything spec...
Bluesound Node 2
@mofimadness Looking back I see that your question was about Tidal on Blusound. My answer pertained more to Blusound itself.  I did try the free trial of Tidal and for me, it was simply awful, but I listen to Classical, and Tidal doesn't seem to c...
Digital media server/players for a Skeptic?
Wolf  The Bluesound has a dac included in each one if it's units so you don't need an external dac.  It is pretty good but since the Bluesound also has digital outs I prefer to use the far superior dac in the Mytek Manhatten.  However...Bluesound ...
Bluesound Node 2
OP--it sounds like you just need a better dac.  The DAC in the Node is good, better than the dacs in the receiver that mine is hooked up with, but the Node 2 costs around $500, and that doesn't leave much in the budget for a high quality dac. From ...
FLAC On A Mac
Spencer  I probably wasn't clear before, but I did that, the XLD icon appeared, but when I dragged a flac file into the icon, the file bounces out and returns to it's own folder.  I didn't have that issue with XLD when I used it two years ago.
The demise of the music CD inevitable?
Had my 27 year old Nephew over and owns 0 CDs.  Streaming or a few iTunes downloads is all he listens.  My kids are a few years older than him, used to buy CDs, but now You Tube seems to satisfy them.  I do think CDs will ultimately become a niche...
FLAC On A Mac
Ok, both changing the preferences and and pressing the control key worked.  The problem now is that neither program shows up in my application file.  I downloaded XLD again, since it's free, but it isn't as it formerly did.  Now when I drag a FLAC...
