Integrated amplifier for Magneplanar SMGA
I currently have the GCC250 and MG1.6 combo.I sold my MG-1s and was using a Rotel RB-1070 which I found a little....constricted. The PSAudio opened things up nicely with near-unlimited dynamics and a jet black background. The Balanced input for CD...
Reel to Reel Mess
I'd KILL for a 4010s! I had one MANY years ago, so did my brother. Still have my Tandberg 3000x, though!
How much power is to much power?
Yep:Vett93, that was the point. Now, extend the model to include speaker 'Q'.....
How much power is to much power?
A SET amp may not control a woofer at higher SPLs but that has little or nothing to do with damping, which is a function of an amps low output impedence.TEST:: take a bare driver...woofer prefered. Thump it with your finger. Rings nicely, right?No...
Suggestions for "balanced" interconnects?
I bought Mogami's at Guitar Center. 'Gold' series
Good speakers at low volume?
I used to set my Maggies about 4 feet apart, facing each other and lie down between them at 0 dark30. It was like the best headphones I ever had....sound was full/open and perfect.
How much power is to much power?
Newbee says::FWIW, if you've got the money, and you are not giving up sound quality, having high power reserves in not a bad thing. But high power high quality amps cost a disproportionate amount of money for the power you get but don't use.Exactl...
How much power is to much power?
Very difficult to have 'too much power'....But why bother? You have fairly hi sensitivity speakers. 50 or 60 hi-quality watts should do the trick, unless you want to induce ear bleeds.
Power problems.... Ground, dedicated lines, ect
http://www.meggerinstruments.com/Check the above link. As you can see, there are some VERY sophisticated tests which can be performed on your power and data lines. Musicnoise, I'd like the explanation of ground loop / lights dimming too.....I trie...
Need recommendation for new CD/SACD player
Rotel? don't know the model, but it is 700$ and gets good HDCD reviews.
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
I drive 'appliance' cars.Honda Element for me and a Camry for the wife. Both have inputs for the I-Pod for longer drives.Sold my S-2000 'toy'. You couldn't turn it up loud enough to hear it over the engine when driving it properly.
Power problems.... Ground, dedicated lines, ect
Ground conduction can be tested with a 'megger'. ask around until you find an electrician that has one and knows how to use it.I, too, have a 100amp panel and a 20amp line to over 1kw of amplifier. No Problem! In the old days, my Carver Cube could ...
An Audiophile's journey
Rwwear, In addition to impedence there is the matter of Phase Angle. Some amps are simply not tolerant of huge phase angles and will heat up or otherwise show there displeasure. You made note of this issue but I think it really deserves near top-b...
Help with integrated amp purchase
I 2nd Ericjcabrera with the choice of PSAudio GCC series.Speakers however differ. Magnepan works for me.Also, the BelCanto is yet another ICE amp. I would like to know just how many manufacturers are out there using the B&O products?
Pioneer sx-636 vintage reciever?
MIGHT not matter, but I had the SX-727, same vintage and while it was OK in most regards, the FM tuner would not stay stable on frequency. As soon as it warmed up, it'd drift off frequency. This model had both a center and signal strength meter. S...
