Thinking of adding a subwoofer for more bass.
If you are happy with current rig, than by all means LISTEN.For a single sweet spot room, you got it licked. How big will those 'resonators be? I think my den acts like one at pretty low freqs. My problem is a little different, my system being used...
Thinking of adding a subwoofer for more bass.
Martyklmy objection to bass room eq is that once you eq out the 100-130hz rise and the nulls at 50 + 80, what do you have?my guess would be that you end up with other problems or a fairly small sweet spot....the 2nd would work for an individual up...
What is your favorite material for loudspeakers?
Concrete blocks? Were they sand filled?I was speaking to a system I saw once where the speakers were poured in place. I suspect the chimney block effort was sabotaged by the front/rear panels. ALL concrete is the way to go! A couple inches of Port...
Two Subwoofers... Comb Effect
That's why I x-over as low as possible...40->45hz. And while my Sub IS fairly close to the LH speaker, it is still pretty seamless. Don't forget that recordings. ..with the possible exception of the Telarc recording of Wellingtons Victory are M...
power line conditioners...
My Panamax PC came with a small iso transformer. Very good results, and even the TV had a better picture, with none of the hash present from the untouched power line.
What planer speaker to start with? Budget 2k
The MMG's would be cool...and keepers if you go to HT, and can use them as surrounds!I sold a pair of MG-1s (late 70's issue) which had been factory rebuilt and were a fine intro to Maggie sound, and for less than the above, MMGs.
2-way speaker with best bass
2nd vote for the original Advent. At the original cost of about 130$ (I'll stand for correction on price) it was an absolute bargain.
ICE amps need cooling?
How much power in the JRDG#9? How much battery capacity? That'll give me some idea how long between charges.I was just giving some 'considerations'. If you go with lead/acid or Nicad, you've got shipping weight to factor in, too. No Fair giving th...
ICE amps need cooling?
Batteries are potentially messy and some can emit either fumes or hydrogen gas. Enough battery power for a pair of BelCanto 1kw monoblocs would take up a bunch of space, too.Than you gotta deal with the charger and battery maintenance. You would AL...
Two Subwoofers... Comb Effect
The 'study' room was 2x as long as high. and 'medium' damped, whatever that is. Was it meant to be 'average'?All you can say is that IN THIS CASE...the results were as noted. I'd love to see this repeated in my room with 8 walls, 2 of which are at...
Emotiva Amps
I've heard BOTH ends on this one. One guy over at another forum had nothing but problems......he was Canadian and some import thing happened. Canceled his order.Others seem pleased. Emotiva is BIG over at AudioHolics.
How to fix a lack of bass Null
I don't think I could pass the physical.
Two Subwoofers... Comb Effect
One key is to keep the x-over as low as practical. This will make sure you can't localize the bass. My Maggies, 1.6s are x'd-over at about 40-45hz. Seamless and invisible. Phase, however, is another matter and does make a difference.I wish I had a...

Yeah, that's why I gave up on meters / analysis / test disks and just listen. You can do about 3/4 of what a consultant can do, for a fraction of the money with only investing time and patients.Next thing, we'll be talking about RT60 and other phe...

Kijanki, you are computing for 2 wall reflection....good start, and the most important. How about 3 and 4 wall?
