Recall of Krell Amplifiers Shad> I believe on ALTAIR V, it was Churchill who gave your quote. Here on EARTH it was Lincoln. Is there a Theramin soundtrack album from FP?
Is Phase and polarity the same thing? It's not even that complicated. 6db filter preserves phase.12db filter inverts phase. On my 1.6 maggies, the x-over has both 6 and 12 db/octave elements....can't for my worthless life remember hi or low is which, but as a result, the HF part of the...
Tube Amp Noise with Klipsch Cornwall II I am totally not up-to-date on tube equipment. Are test points and adjustment pots easily accessible?? I like the 'tune up' idea before any tube changes. Lowering the gain of the amp sounds too much like a re-design? I know this is a BAD thing to ...
Will a PS 300 provide enough juice? VA is more important than 'watts'. Especially as PF (Power Factor) drops.
Tube amp repair recommendations - San Diego? Might be same person:: I found someone who 'loves tubes' when trying to get a friends ancient Zenith TransOceanic fixed. Want me to track down?
SET with inefficient speakers its not impedance alone that will get you, but rather a combination of low impedance AND hi phase angle. Meaning a highly reactive load. More info on the speaker, including some real measurements would be helpful.
Why manufactures donĀ“t burn in their amps and ... First, there are NO high frequency 'surges' in a power cord. If a power cord measures as highly reactive, you will have voltage and current not in perfect phase. Just for a trivial example for which I have measures.A 40 watt fluorescent light draw...
My system acts weird Doesn't a loud/buzzing iso trans indicate DC?
My system acts weird Have you lived there long enough to know if the problem is seasonal? If yes, and the problem is summer, than utility use by neighbors may be the culprit. My voltage goes from a low of about 115 during the heat of the day to 118 / 119 very late.
Best Super-Tweek You Possibly Ever Did Solar Power? Does this mean all your gear is DC? Or do you use an inverter / battery setup? If inverter / battery, what waveform does your inverter provide? I would be curious since most inverters are NOT true sine wave. How does some sensitive dig...
Hertz Meter Reading Device Ojgalli, Saint Sans organ piece goes to 16hz. A recording of it comes as part of the 'demo' disk with my sub.I played it 1x and it is scary. Whole house rumbled, plates rattled and you could see the window reflections vibrate. So yes, there IS musi...
cooling my Krell monoblocks Actually, Forbidden Planet was based on Shakespeares 'The Tempest'.
cooling my Krell monoblocks You Guys are KILLING me.The Krell were a mythical race in the '50s SciFi classic 'Forbidden Planet'.Just my opin, but one of the most literate / intelligent well paced SciFi flicks ever.A great cast including a very young Ann Francis among many ot...
Amp damping factor? 1st, DF is just a spec, If all manu. measure the same, you should be able to compare. Not that this would make it mean any more or less! Also, propagation delay is as good a reason as any why certain bi-amp combinations don't work out. 1milisecond ...
Grounding ? Exactly, J, there will be voltage present if the ground plug is used or not! Connecting 2 pieces under these conditions is using 1 of 'em as 'local ground'. Please explain 'leakage'. I have heard the term but am unfamiliar with its use in this cas... |
