Talon Khorus question Stuart--Have you ever auditioned the Pro-Silways Mk II's with the Khorus'? Just curious how they compare with what you're using. I had heard the Analysis Silver Ovals were very detailed but a little light in the bass. I agree the Khorus' allow you...
Sony XA7ES vs Sony SCD777ES I own the XA7ES. Although I've never seen a 777ES, I understand they do not have balanced outputs, only single ended. Just an FYI in case that's important to you. I also have heard that the 777ES can be very slow at loading SACD's.
Talon Khorus question Don--Thanks again. Yours is the only review I've found that compares the Khorus' with electrostats. Very interesting. To answer your question, the only two cables I've tried are Harmonic Technology Truth Link XLR's and Pro-Silway Mk II XLR's. The ...
Talon Khorus question Thanks for the additional info, Djjd. Based on my long-term memory, I was thinking electrostats might have a slight edge in the quickness department, but you would know better than I, having living with ML. Perhaps the Khorus' smoothness belies th...
Talon Khorus question I own a pair of broken-in Khorus', and my experience with them mirrors Don's above. When I first fired them up, within a minute I turned to my friend sitting next to me and said, "They sound dampened." Obviously Don has had the same experience. Wh...
Out of Control CWlondon--Pass does build fine products. I've owned the Aleph 3, and I was very impressed with the performance it offered. It's bass was a little weak, and it didn't have the headroom I needed, but it had the deepest soundstage I've ever heard and...
Best tubes for BAT VK5i, help please I have a 5i. I think its soft start feature is supposed to make it less hard on tubes than many other preamps, but I've never tried anything but the Sovteks.I've heard that the Amperex/Tungsol combination is supposed to be "the" combo to use with ...
silver vs copper ICs I've only compared the Harmonic Technology Truth Link's (copper) with the Pro-Silway Mk II's (I believe copper and silver). The latter are more open and have greater detail in the highs. The Truth Link's are a bit warmer and richer sounding, but, ...
Dolby Digital, DD EX, DTS ES, THX, etc. Dolby Digital (DD) is the standard 5.1 descrete channel formatDigital Theater Systems (DTS) is a competing 5.1 descrete channel format. (I personally feel DTS sounds a little better than DD)Both DD and DTS have new formats that add an additional d...
B K ref30 or Anthem AVM2? If you opt for the B&K Ref 30, I suggest you wait a couple months before buying it. They are about ready to release it with new software that give it true 6.1 descrete channel capability (DD EX and DTS ES) and not just the matrixed version of ...
Tuning speaker / room response? FYI, if you want to include graphs or pictures here or with your ads, you need only download your images to any of a number of free web servers such as www.honesty.com. Then follow Njonker's advice for getting the image to come up here. If you'd l...
Leave Tubes In Standby Mode or Not? I have a BAT VK30SE. I had the same thoughts as you and have been turning it off rather than leaving it in standby mode.
My Stan Warren DVD Player Arrived Yahoo I, too, have heard about applying this technique to CD's. Have any of you tried it, and if so, what improvements--if any--did you hear?
Talon Khorus owners, please read What if any improvements did you notice with the Orchard Bay cones? Worth the cost of the upgrade? Thanks.
best musical pre/pro for about 3000. I just realized you'd asked for pre/pro recommendations, so disregard my earlier VK30SE comments! The Lexicon MC-1 is probably the pre/pro to get. They can be found used for right around $3k. Good luck. |
