Ethernet cables @mclinnguy Thanks for the reminder about Uptone - I think last time I looked they were not shipping. @tksteingraber Thanks, will check out the thread and take a look at Snubway. I have a Purify and a SDFB although it really belongs with your amp...
Digital LP’s To answer RVP, no. IMO the fact that vinyl is pure analogue regardless of whether it was mastered from a/d matters. No DAC in the chain. But those glorified sewing needles can get expensive!
Differences between Harbeth, Spendor, Graham, etc. ? @larsman thanks for sharing your speaker journey. Ditto on the hearing loss and tinnitus. For me it’s been over 30 years. I got too close to a massive bank of JBLs at an outdoor rave in London. Midrange loss which is why I chose Harbeth.
Differences between Harbeth, Spendor, Graham, etc. ? @larsman What did you land on for rock speakers? I agree with you and would not even recommend the 40.3 XDs that I own now if rock / hard rock is your primary genre, even with big SS horsepower. I don’t think that was Alan Shaw’s intent. As a mat...

Ethernet cables I didn’t believe in audiophile Ethernet cables either (just 1’s and 0’s right?) - I had Blue Jeans, and thought I’d try a returnable Cardas Ethernet which surprisingly did sound better, so I ordered a DH Labs and tried them side by side and sent t...
Thumper’s Mother @asvjerry ah…well said then Whitstable is the village I was referring to.
Thumper’s Mother @asvjerry OMG! Sorry, let me clarify...I'd only order sole if it was whole Dover Sole, preferably in a little seaside village in England fresh of the boat. While we're counting spelling mistakes..."el together". Or Spanish?
Thumper’s Mother @pokey77 You are indeed a brave man, as half the comments you'll get will be fun and friendly, but indeed the other half will not be civil at all. Thanks for popping in. I did a quick tally; 16 for, 7 against the OP's suggestion, zero un-civi...
Watts! How many do we need? @dogearedaudio My point was that I have seen systems so expensive, so complicated and striving for so much power and scale that they become unmanageable for the owner. They're often difficult to listen to as well. Point taken. But in this co...
Thumper’s Mother @ozzy62 I have been a member of a Corvette forum for many years, even though I sold the car a long time ago. Same here. I think the difference though is the singular topic and the audience. No one goes to a car show with a C6 and tells someon...
Watts! How many do we need? Also consider clipping for tubes and SS is very different. (I'm running SS now but owned 3 tube amps and use a tube DAC now so I'm not trying to pick a side here) Part of the reason we like tubes, is the distortion, which increases as they get ov...
Would you still pay $10k or more for a turntable not full analog front end these days ? Would you still pay $10k or more for a turntable not full analog front end these days ? Assuming the question was turntable only, yes. Probably the Technics SL-1000RE-S. Plus a new cart and phono stage. A few things need to align to make that ...
Watts! How many do we need? @bigtwin Very interesting, thank you. |
