What subwoofers keep up with Quad ESL 57 ?
I would buy the small Definitive Technology Supercube III, great little sub, you can connect it via the speaker terminal off your amp, or many other and multiple ways.Very, very fast and deep little sub.
What Solid State Pre-Amp compares to ARC LS-26
It's hard to compete with an ARC LS-26 in that price range, especially a SS.
best sounding integrated for under 2500.00
I just re-read this question, and since it does not ask in regard to what speakers, just best sounding integrated under $2500, I'm voting for the Cary SLI-80 again. Great sounding integrated with 80/w, and great to look at, great re-sale. I'm voti...
best sounding integrated for under 2500.00
I have a new Bel Canto C5i, that is absolutely amazing. I have it matched up with an AppleTV and Klipsch Heresy II's with Crites crossovers, woofers and tweeter diaphrams, and it's absolutely stellar.Great integrated DAC and it has a MM phono stag...
Pioneer BDP-09FD As Good As They Say On Stereo?
Buy a cheap Blu Ray player and a good stand alone DAC, you will get better performance if you still use those silver discs that spin.
King of the Non oversampling DAC's? Lavry /Kondo ?
MHDT Havana, I agree with the above who mentioned that.Great DAC.
Vandersteen 5As...first impressions
I agree, one of the best speakers I have heard period. I think they are in the same group as my top speakers:Wilson Alexandria (of course, but they should be, right?)Magnepan 20.1Vandersteen 5aMBL Radiastrasser enjoy, great purchase!!

Go no further, if you can find a used Cary Audio SLI80 F-1, you can get it for that. The non-F1 version is great as well, and would be a little less if found used.Great integrated, with plenty of power. Sorry I sold mine.
Magneplanar 1.7s to Recruit New Audiophile?
The MHDT, well in person, does not look home made. It sounds fantastic, and I tried many.I think you will find many, many, many Benchmark comments where they think it's bright, mainly because it really is.With a warm system, it would work very wel...
Magneplanar 1.7s to Recruit New Audiophile?
I think your system is right on target with two exceptions:1) I think the Benchmark is very harsh, and bright, especially with revealing speakers with Maggies. I would try DAC's from MHDT (Havana) or Eastern Electric instead.2) I like the Wyred4So...
HELP-Maggie IIIa's are crackling at high frequency
I didn't realize the amplification power you were using. I would say that the IIIa's need about 300w in 4 ohms to sound good, and more than that, good amplifaction, will sound even better.A good digital switching amp form Wyred4Sound or Bel Canto,...
HELP Rega P-7; VPI Classic 2; Scout 2 or ?
Congrats Bosco, you are going to love the Classic. My only caveat, is how well shielded is the Ortofon you ordered? The motor being mounted in the plinth means it's not well shielded and you get some hum with unshielded cartridges. I had that prob...

sounds like teh tweeters are blown. Easy to replace if you contact Magnepan.
Newbie: Entry-level monoblock amps
for those speakers, I would buy a McIntosh MC275 amp. Will sound great, and they always hold their value. Well, at least for the last 60 yrs.You can get one in the $3000 range here on the 'Gon.
Does High End In Wall Speaker Wire Exist?
Conduit is a great idea, then I would run the new Kimber 12tc, unterminated, to the speakers. That would sound, very nice, I think.
