New Steely Dan Release - LP? I wouldn't worry too much. Every Steely Dan recording has been available on vinyl and this one will not be the exception. Besides, they have been critical of the digital domain for quite some time. Read "Reelin' In The Years" for some great insigh...
The miracle of the turntable? Capitalize on your son's curiosity. Boys are by nature fixers and builders. I know this site is about audio but most of us just buy our gear. Show him how to pound a nail, cut a board with a handsaw, check the oil, etc. If you don't know how to do...
OK, A'Gon/guys: I like to print the odd thread but Unclejeff,Why don't you simply cut and paste (Control/C, Control/V) what you want to print into your word processing program and then print? Every M$ OS has Wordpad. You'll have two windows open when doing this, so use the Alt/Tab shortcut while j...
Is There Big Trouble Brewing? You'all gotta start looking at the politics involved with all this nonsense. Politics, as in: 1) Congress allowing the radio waves to be dominated by two corporations, thus controlling what music we are subjected to, 2) Recording giants force feed...
Linn Aktiv cards for tri-amp LK140/Ninaka Hi,If I understand your confusion correctly, you want to know how things work with three Aktiv stereo amps running the two way Ninka's that have two mid/bass drivers per speaker. The crossovers in the back of the Ninka's need to have the jumpers c...
Boise, Idaho Heck Tom, that's a mere 18 hour drive. How about every Wednesday??
What's under YOUR turntable? Dust bunnies.
LP Heaven Listen to Cylinderking! Doing it once is much cheaper than following some kind of upgrade path. Welcome to the crowd.
Record Cleaner Side Effects? Hi,IMNSHO, record cleaning is a no-brainer. I've been collecting vinyl for over 35 years and see/hear no evidence that record cleaning machines damage the software. On the contrary, failure to do so will embed debris into the vinyl permanently. Re...
My name is.....and I am a compliationaholic. I agree with you. Having read a number of books about idividual artists, my belief about the playlist order was confirmed. They spend considerable time and effort doing this and often agonize when faced with cutting a tune. I couldn't imagine list...
2 lk-85's or 1 lk-140 Your Keilidh's can be either Aktiv or passive as the crossover remains in all cases. It's just a manual change done on the inside of the cabinet. Go Aktiv. It's the best bang for the buck. You ain't heard the Keilidh's yet.
Linn speakers Sorry for the late reply. I've been out all day. The Keilidh's are two way but have two mid/base drivers. I've only listened to mine in the Aktiv configuration but have heard others run passive. The can be bi-amped, bi-wired passive or just about ...
Linn speakers Hessong,I owned a pair of Sara's for better than 15 years. I loved them in spite of reading all the negative reviews. They deserved the negative reviews when paired with the wrong amplifiers. Difficult load. Anyway, I now own an Aktiv pair of Keil...
What are the best DIY cables you've heard? Twl sent me a pair of cables which I'm running between my preamp and power amplifiers. They are really, really good. With apologies to Tom, I am pasting the description for building them. This is directly from his email to me.The recipe is:1 packa...
MC-pre stage minimum distance from poweramp Twelve inches is probably enough in most circumstances. Surely a standard interconnect length would be more than enough. Are you having a problem with hum? If so and assuming you have a light to illuminate your turntable, you might want to unplug ... |
