"Junk" LP listings on audiogon - get rid of 'em This is something I too have been pondering and can't offer any suggestions for improvement. One man's crappy record is another's favorite. Is that a defensive statement? Hardly. Do you mean that only 180 gram or heavier vinyl is all that should b...
When did it all start? I grew up in a home with a killer console stereo. Mom and Dad had just gone to the race track for an afternoon of betting and I was left alone with Meet The Beatles. The rest history.
Steely Dan - New release / June 10th Every Steely Dan to date has been available on vinyl. Anyone hear of a source for this new release please advise us all.
CD and/or LP collections. Is it about the music? Pmkalby,Yours is a good question. I've been an avid vinyl collector since about 1965. For nearly a couple of decades I listened to music that was one to two years old at the time and ignored much of the older stuff in my library. Then the mid 70's...
Steely Dan - New release / June 10th Has anyone found a vinyl source for this?
CD and/or LP collections. Is it about the music? Thanks for this thread Nrchy. The posts might help me sort through the questions I've been pondering for years. For myself, I'd be better off measuring my vinyl by the ton. It's a bunch. My system is not made of the stuff most audiophiles own. It'...
Aesthetix Saturn Series? Albert Porter actually photographed the Janus and used it. I would email him directly for his comments. I'm surprised he hasn't responded.....must be busy today.
Soundstaging and imaging are audiophile fictions. Comparisons to live music are subjective but should be looked at as objectively as possible. Amplified music at a live event usually comes across as mono. Unamplified music has a soundstage depending upon where the listener sits. Sit far enough aw...
Anyone still excited about HDCD ? To clarify my above post, shortly after the purchase many manufacturers began complaining about the increased cost for using the chip in their players. I know I'm cynical about Mr. Gate$ movtives, but give me a reason not to be.
Recording Industry Dirt Busis2,The key to my post is "the rip and burn set". The ironic part is that Sony music wants the younguns to buy the CD's and the hardware part wants them to buy burners. Nevertheless, there's more going on than just a lack of quality music for u...
Anyone still excited about HDCD ? Bill Gates bought it. He will kill it. It's sad as I agree that it is a better method than standard redbook.
Recording Industry Dirt Buscis2,There's really nothing new here except it's digital. Nearly every black artist from the 50's and 60's got screwed beyond belief leaving them able to earn a living only through club performances. John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival...
Need a Basic Education on the LP12 Get a used Ittok and a cartridge within your budget. Of course, a better cartridge, like the Shelter is a great move if you can afford it. I currently use a Blue Point Special and realize it's marginal but nevertheless, it's very enjoyable.
