The Chord Co.
I hope you understand what I was trying to say about the interconnect or the preamp as being better. It's a tough call on my part. For sure, the Naim kit as well as my Linn gear is not dark sounding. I recently have been using a Ridge Street Audio...
The Chord Co.
I purchased a Chord DIN to RCA so that I could use a non-Naim preamp with one of their power amps. It was a great interconnect for that use as the sound stayed very similar. I was inserting an older Linn LK1 preamp since it had a mm/mc phono stage...
A serious blow to Canadian audiophiles, must read
Having grown up in Nebraska I can tell you where the "bad pot" of the 70's came from. August was the month for arrests of out of state entrepreneurs that came to harvest hemp in my former state. You could smoke a truck load of the stuff and only g...
Upgrade turntable or preamp next?
Mlkiz,The Supratek will be your last preamp. It's that good. I've had the opportunity to audition one at length in my own system using my LP12 and also a Teres 265. No doubt, in my case I'd rather have the Syrah than any other upgrade.

The industry that has been created to track, arrest, build prisons, prosecute, defend, incarcerate and manage the probation/parole of pot users is so vast that nobody has any dollar figures. It's absolutely insane. It can't be stopped and the prof...
Jazz drum music recommendations?
Buddy Rich. IMHO, simply the best drummer to ever live. I don't know if his stuff has been coverted to CD. A google search for a "Buddy Rich discography" should yield good results.
Digital vs. Analog sonics
Many older records and some cartridge test records have a band of lines on the outer edge of the label used to check rotational correctness. Of course, that's assuming you live where the electricity is 60 cycles. Put the record on and turn on the ...
Preamp Phono Stage v Standalone + Linestage
Lester ears,My system is an all Linn Aktiv system. Inserting the Supratek Syrah was like putting a blower and nitrous on my system. Seriously, it was so good it's difficult to convey. The improvement was way beyond the price of admission. There is...
Preamp Phono Stage v Standalone + Linestage
Lester ears,Since you haven't provided a budget I'll just give my suggestion for a preamp you'd probably keep forever. The Supratek Syrah is just the piece. Very affordable at $2500 and a remote option is available for another $150. The phono sect...
What will you be playing to celebrate?
Viridian,Apology accepted and no hard feelings. Kkursula,My point wasn't partially correct. I was referencing the connection between Saddam's capture and what Lybia has done. I didn't feel compelled to write the history of the world to make that p...
What will you be playing to celebrate?
Viridain,It's unfortunate that you deleted your post. Then again, Audiogon will likely delete this entire thread soon rather than leave it for its historic value. "Some are just uncomfortable with viewpoints that conflict with their own"? That des...
I have seen the light.
Swampwalker,Isn't the Supratek Syrah just too cool? What a great piece. I had the pleasure of using one in my system recently and it is an incredible performer. With a price tag of $2500 it's a candidate for the best deal in all of audio. I envy you.
What will you be playing to celebrate?
So, what are you Viridian, the hall monitor? Does freedom of speech bother you only when faced with opposing points of view? If you do not agree with the majority of the posters here then step up to the pump and say something meaningful rather tha...
Warped record playback
Patrick,First, I don't think you will damage the stylus on a warped record unless the warps are so bad the arm goes airborn. A good record clamp should help flatten them. Second, I would never optimize my table to play the worst of my vinyl. Last,...
Help: How to reset Rega RB300 arm on P3?
Episteme,While unfamiliar with your table I'm sure this is correct. Tighten the nut by hand and maybe 1/8 turn more. The nut tightness can affect the sound. Play around with the torque applied to the nut. Too tight will become very obvious when li...
