Suspended Turntable-which one? Longish
Hi,If you are willing to place the turntable on a wall shelf then a suspended table will work fine. I've done that long ago with my Linn with no problems. If you aren't willing to mount a wall shelf then you will need a suspension-less table and a...
Crimping bare speaker cable connections
Mijknarf,I've used the silver solder and the butane iron a bunch and not just with audio. The butane iron/torch is just too cool. I honestly don't know how I would have done my hotrod wiring without it. I've never had the need to solder bare wire ...
Gruve Glide
Stevecham,I had that happen once when I used too much. I now use the smallest amount that I can with a single spray. I figure that I treat perhaps 4-500 albums with one can.
What makes a sytem "Fast?"
I don't understand the "how" of fast but will share my experience, for what it's worth. When I inserted a Supratek Syrah tube preamp into my solid state active system I was taken into another dimension. Very difficult to describe the way my amps w...
Why was Audiogon started?
Sherod,Bless you for buying a new component and selling it here. In a small way we used buyers stimulate the new buyers, but it's buying new that keeps the economic engine running.Your reply to the dealers request was spot on since here at Audiogo...
What TT for $1200 used?
No doubt about it, an LP12. The one I would buy is for sale here right now at just a little over your price point. And no, I have no vested interest in this table that is for sale but I've followed the owners upgrade path through these forums and ...
Crimping bare speaker cable connections
Eldartford makes a good point about the non-corrosion paste but I don't have a clue about its sonic characteristics. It works well on car battery connections too. Mijknarf, I've use the Radio Shack silver solder. Every report I've read is very pos...

Solder the bare wire.
Gruve Glide
Tobias,In my system Gruv Glide does reduce surface noise a bit BUT the biggest advantage is no static electricity build up. I own an LP12. The felt mat no longer gets picked up with the record in the winter time. That's enough to jusitfy its use.
Gruve Glide
Colitas,Wet clean and vacuum the record and then apply the Gruv Glide.
Gruve Glide
I'm certain that it's not silicone but is rather a dry lubricant. One can will treat way more albums than the instructions say and I urge you to use it sparingly. I'm as cheap as anybody and feel it's a real bargain. Don't go huffing the stuff as ...
looking for preamp with built in tuner
Linn Wakonda with sneaky tuner module. If it has a phono input it is easily changed between mm and mc. The Linn remotes are superb too.
Tinnitus - do you have ringing in the ears?
Hey, this is a perfect example of why I did what I did above. What Pbb needs is a shot of testosterone. The estrogen comes through loud and clear. Or, is this a Canadian malady?
Expressimo Audio "the LIFT" ....doesn't
Good for you!
Tinnitus - do you have ringing in the ears?
Now, now, Pbb. Nobody can blame me for poking you in the ribs. Just a little payback for your previous efforts. It WAS meant as a joke.
