Theta Dreadnut or 3-Plinius 8200P
My suggestion is both sound very good. However, one other option, if your looking into a 3 channel amp, is to look seriously into the 3 channel Pass X150 X 3!!! If you are lookng for a 3 channel amp, you will not find a better sounding one for tho...
Need a good "under carpet" speaker cable
I can recommend some stuff that's like $15/ft, ultra high purrity 6/9's copper, sounds pheonominally good infact, but it's kind of an industry secret...so not sure I should spill the nameAudio quest makes some stuff however, that's at least 4/9's ...
consensus on passive preamps?
OOOPS!...made a mistake on my last comment. I meant to say that most people will find "active" gain preamps a better choise in the majority of circumstances, not passive units!
consensus on passive preamps?
I've had 3 passive preamps over the last few years, and can say that they are good in some applications. However, there are tradeoffs. Yes, you will likely have to spend some money to get similar purity and transparency to what a good passive offe...
Would like your recommendations for sub. cable?
my first suggestion would be to go to radio shack and pick up the necessary length(or two runs , running it in stereo if your worried about impedence) of their more than descent "gold ended" audio cable. I would bet you that you get more than sati...
Placement of Revel Performa S30 surround speakers
IN response to Mr Basmith's posting on proper placement for your S30's, this is as far as 99.9% off the people ever see for good sound from their speakers! I don't care if the manufacturer likes to see their speakres 20 degrees behind and almost 6...
Help, moved and very unhappy the sound of the syst
Marty, let me just qualify my statements a little bit further here...If your looking for some answers to fix things on your own, and that is your goal/interest, if you persist, in time I think you'll likely solve a good deal of your challenges and...
Help, moved and very unhappy the sound of the syst
Marty, I'm sure everyone is trying to be helpful(but probabaly confusing..as they're mostly guessing), but the reality is you should be prepared to do a lot of studying, and a lot of experimenting, trial and error!...and I mean a lot!!!! Or, your ...
How to arrange my speakers?
Really, setting up spoeakers is a skill that takes a lot of knowledge, experience, skill and patience!...ESPECIALLY, wshen you're talking about multiples of speakers! If you don't want to do you homework, and want quick, finalized results, you are...
What is the best 6 piece sub/sat system under 2k?
There's a lot of variables here, including set-up!!!..which most people don't even consider. Are they going to be mounted, or free standing on stands? Also, do you have any other gear already?...or is this first on the list (which it should be). I...
Placement of Revel Performa S30 surround speakers
OOOOPS!....just realized you are talking about dedicated S30 surounds. I was thinking about the 20's, which are ported. These speaker(S30's) are sealed, and are balanced from the crossover to be flush against the wall. However, for proper sound, y...
Placement of Revel Performa S30 surround speakers
The dealer is wrong on wiring them out of Phase! This is not the solution, no. However as for set-up of the speakers, one would need to be able to see your room and set-up. EVERY room is different, and requires different considerations. Really, th...
Dynaudio or Wison?
Have extensive experience with your speaker choices here. The Wilsons really like bigger rooms (is your's a closed in rectangle?...or open?) for easiest set-up placement(however set-up is critical with ANY SPEAKER in ANY ROOM!!)I think you can get...
Are active speakers the best upgrade
I've been around the high end audio scene since about 1982, in one way or another, and have hands on dealt with so so so many speaker desings and technologies. I would personally like to see the new trend in loudspeaker manufacturing go towards "a...
