advice on dedicated line I live in philly in a neighborhood that runs off the same transformer and we're prone to lightening strikes. Even with my modest system I use a Furman Pro pwr strip for my Sunfire amp, but as Al stated, effect on SQ is system dependent. There have...
advice on dedicated line "Do I want two dedicated lines--one for the amplifier and one for everything else? So 2 20 amp circuits with 10 gauge wire?"If you have a small system and as long as your amp is not a monster, you can get by with 2 dedicated 20 amp lines. The curr...
Musician's Challenges Anne-Sophie Mutter's album "Carmen Fantasie" is an example of the artist showing her chops playing very challenging violin solos. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000001GII/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Fast and technical and the vi...
Listening volume If it's a solid state amp, it's possible that based on the speaker and amp sensitivity that the amp was clipping. OTOH, I have also experienced what Mofi is talking about.
Static electricity....again I second the Anti Static floor mat as long as your carpet is not a thick-pile, otherwise it may not stay flat. These mats are used in pro video and audio studios. Or you use the old fashioned NYC tenement method...put a pot of water on the radiator.
Tweeter height...align with ears? Tboooe, your setup has come along nicely. But since you are listening near-field in a small space and based on Onhwy61's comments, it's probably better to use some diffusion on the ceiling. Absorption could create a suck-out, and you only want to ...
Tweeter height...align with ears? I like Erikt's response. In your small room perhaps you should be more concerned about the rake angle of the speakers. It looks like there is potential for some reflection off the ceiling.
building a system around dynaudios? Go to the archives and use "match all words" setting, enter "Rogue Sphinx" and you will find mostly positive threads about the Sphinx.
So what would you recommend for my next upgrade? Dancub, nice to see you are open to new ideas.I recommend Herbie's Audio Lab.http://herbiesaudiolab.net/footers.htmHe makes all kinds of isolation devices for everything in the system. Even makes a very nice TT mat; I use one and noticed better dy...
So what would you recommend for my next upgrade? Are you using any isolation tweeks in your system? Footers, cones, TT Isolation systems do improve sonics.
Why are CD's decling in quality? OK, thanks...I found some threads. BTW, I like the CD Japan selection, but the shipping prices are high. Funny, just a thought, since audiophiles spend so much on equipment, yet are reluctant to pay tow or three times the amount on CD's for best q...
Why are CD's decling in quality? Tomcy6...Do you have any knowledge of Blu-spec SQ vs. the other formats?
Why are CD's decling in quality? There are many Japanese vendors on Amazon selling mostly SHM-CD. There is an online Japanese store that somebody here recommended but I never bookmarked it. --------------------Found it in the archives...XRCD, SHM-CD, Blu-spec CD[url]http://www.cd...
Why are CD's decling in quality? Bifwynne, I think we may have discussed this subject. What I am finding is SHM-CD is affordable and there is a large selection, not so with XRCD.My question is have you ever ordered from the Japanese based vendors and if so, was the transaction fa...
