Pro-Ject turntables I was interested in Pro-Ject turntables...are they as good as the reviews say? And which model is the one to get? IT COULD BE THE LESS EXPENSIVE ONE, no problem.Notec; so what then is your advice if all the under-$1000 TTs are crap? And at what le...
Back on Black: LED ZEP 1-3 I'm ok with digital remasters, but only if the original analogue tapes were used at some point to create a new master using modern equipment. Then they can keep remastering as digital technology evolves.
Back on Black: LED ZEP 1-3 I think I'll go for the new 180 Gram pressings to replace my worn-out 1970s Atlantic LPs. I hope these can reproduce the bass-slam of Bonzo's kick-drum better than the Mothership sessions did. On a different note,The consensus is that the Classic ...
Pro-Ject turntables Funny; this is the 3rd thread regarding Pro-Ject turntables in a week. I totally agree with Wescoman, the Debut Carbon is the model to buy since it performs as well as TTs at a much higher price. It comes with a good tonearm and an Ortofon Red car...
First turntable advice Agree with Schubert. Pro-ject Carbon Debut is a "plug and play" TT that comes with a good tonearm and an Ortofon cartridge. It comes to you already set up.http://www.needledoctor.com/Brand-Stores/Pro-Ject-Debut-Carbon-Turntable
Entry level turntable $250 USD doesn't get you much in the way of TTs, mainly because you'll also need a decent cartridge. You could find a used one for under $250 on Ebay, but that can be a gamble as there may be parts that need replacing. If buying used, I suggest yo...
Linn Basik LVX vs. Rega RB 303 I would say to upgrade the tonearm (the wiring, bushings and bearings are old) and the Rega RB 303 is a considerable upgrade. The Rega is a longer tonearm, also a higher mass, so you would need to consult with your dealer on whether or not your ta...
lemon on on vandersteens No Pledge; leaves a residue that you can see from across the room.
Linn Basik Turntable LVX Tonearm Shure V15 V Cart I would imagine the Shure V15 would be a good match for the low mass Basik LVX. There's a few of us here who own the Axis and have never felt the need to move up to the LP12. I'm told that the Basik has the same Linn house sound. The only thing I ...
lemon on on vandersteens If they are finished wood, Scotts Liquid Gold is a good, easy to use product. Provides a nice shine with no residue.
Back on Black: LED ZEP 1-3 "Remastered from the Original Master Tapes by Jimmy Page and Pressed at Pallas In Germany."Since the word "analogue" is never mentioned, I agree with Rockitman. But were the analogue tapes ever used for reissues/remasters?

Back on Black: LED ZEP 1-3 "Mothership is compressed"The CD.
Back on Black: LED ZEP 1-3 Jimmy Page also remastered Mothership and there was a huge diff in SQ between vinyl and the compressed CD. But with these new releases there is also a hirez version available. (But costs more)
Rogue Sphinx Until you move higher up the line to the Athena and Hera, all the remotes move volume in increments. In my case, it's 2dB steps on a Perseus Magnum. I wish it was 1dB, but the remote was never a deal breaker. |
