Philly FM Radio and FM Tuner Redux
I listen to RTI 90.1 on a vintage Denon, made in Japan and it sounds very good. Buying vintage is a crapshoot, so glad I'm the original owner. It's hardly worth owning a tuner in this radio-starved city.
Just a bit to bright
I am still curious on one point... When considering amps and preamps, does one have more impact than the other on the sound we hear? Or are they equally responsible for the end result?I also believe that the preamp highly affects the color or timb...
Philly FM Radio and FM Tuner Redux
I've looked for classical stations other than WRTI and never found one. I found this via Google, it's HD only and I have no idea of it's signal strength.http://wwfm.org/

Should I Get a DAC ?
Chayro; I've seen that. It will be interesting to try at home. In the days when I was mixing audio for television, we always had Auratone's for the final mix. http://www.bobhodas.com/examining-the-yamaha-ns-10m.php
Should I Get a DAC ?
Thanks for weighing in, Al. A notch filter is an interesting concept; if we were mixing in an analogue studio (which is part of my work experience), that would have been an option that would have been explored when dealing with some problem freque...
Should I Get a DAC ?
That's right, Grannyring...sensitivity to highs which can result in pain, plus tinnitus which is minor. As far as pwr. conditioning, I have a Blue Circle PC + 2 BC pwr filters inline. The Audience Powerchord smoothed out the CDP tremendously. I lik...
Should I Get a DAC ?
Thanks, Lynne. I have plenty of power, 600wpc into 4 ohms (Sunfire 300 amp, PSB Synch's) and in my 12'x16' room the bass is deep and tight.Currently I have metal tweeters and I know that my next speaker upgrade I will try a soft dome tweeter even ...
Should I Get a DAC ?
so Solid state is not necessarily the problemYes, I think you're right. Better cables did improve the performance of the deck and as I said earlier with my string section test, this CDP is pretty damn smooth.Arnettpartners and Timrhu; so you can r...
Should I Get a DAC ?
Elizabeth, I guess I knew that would be the response regarding the excellent D/A in the ARC. After I posted this I realised that I left something out the question. My post should really be asking what about an external TUBE DAC with a Synchro-Mesh ...
Rogue Audio Metis Preamp
Don't own a Metis, but with Rogue upgrades there is a major improvement. The larger power supply and better caps really increase the dynamics. The upgrade makes the preamp sound smoother, less bright and more natural. Rogue preamps sound bright to...
Power cable for ARC CDP
Yes, Joey. The AC-14XL looks like a new design, but I'd like to see some reviews before I buy. The good thing about AA is the 30 day return policy.
Power cable for ARC CDP
I have considered that, Joey. I have a thread out there looking for info on the Pangea AC-14 XL.http://www.audioadvisor.com/Pangea-Audio-AC-14-XL-Power-Cable/productinfo/PGAC14XLI/#.Uw-j215yEt5As far as the new Audience, in my system it's in a dif...
abbey road question
They are using the original analogue tapes tranferred to digital for mixing and mastering. The end result is a file that is sent to the vinyl cutters for pressing.
Power cable for ARC CDP
Thanks all. I went with the Audience Powerchord for the CDP. And thanks to you, Jl35...Terrific 3D imaging plus CDs sound so smooth now, so much more like analogue. I plan on moving up the ARC CD chain eventually, but right now I'm looking to buy ...
