Looking for Better Jitter Reduction in a DAC
Bruce, the 1.2 looks like a great unit and it's affordable. The reason I said USB is not a priority is due to the fact that my Mac has some bugs in it and is not running any music player software. It will go into the shop soon. Plus, I would like ...
Issues with AudiogoN forum website, anyone?
Me too. Hitting "Refresh" usually works.
Hi-rez music - why should it cost more?
Great answer, jond!!  And from a technical point of view, studios have been mastering 24/96 and 24/192 files for quite some time now. IOW, the music is already hi-rez.
EMI versus Seraphim recordings
IME, EMI UK pressings are superior to any of their spin-off labels which were pressed in the US. Angel Records was started by EMI to import UK pressings into the US. Sometimes they were of similar quality, but typically they were inconsistent sinc...

Don Sach's pre amp
Since the website does not list specs, I have a question. Is Don's preamp using cathode-followers for the 6SN7 gain stage? Also, if this is a single gain stage, is it sensitive to microphonic tubes? I assume you are all testing for low- noise?
Looking for Better Jitter Reduction in a DAC
Steve, interesting stuff about some DAC designs. This problem I'm having makes me keep thinking about grounding issues due to the harsh sound. As far as outside the components, there are no grounding issues; I've tried different IC's (single-ended ...
Looking for Better Jitter Reduction in a DAC
@audioengr , thanks for your interest and advice, Steve. The PS Audio transport gets high marks for jitter control from users online. My PSA DAC is their budget model which uses ESS Sabre chips (no detailed info available), and does not use a FPGA ...
Looking for Better Jitter Reduction in a DAC
I appreciate your comments, @audioengr . I contacted you recently regarding a Synchromesh purchase and appreciate your no-pressure-to-buy attitude. I'm following your advice and focusing on each element one at a time. First, I addressed the power ...
