My Father's Place ?
Very cool. I never knew LI had a history of such important bands, but it was before my time. I no longer live in the area but very pleased to see MFP back in a big way.And I remember how loud Zebra was in those small clubs. I used to see them when...
Anyone bought direct from ps audio and returned it?
I doubt you will have any problems dealing with PSA. I sent my transport for warranty service and it was returned within a weeks time. Customer service responds quickly to email, and even their forum is excellent.
My Father's Place ?
I saw some of my most memorable shows there. I only found the same info as you did about Bellmore.Eppy announced the opening of only the Roslyn location.http://www.brooklynvegan.com/li-venue-my-fathers-place-which-hosted-ramones-springsteen-more-t...
Anyone have issues with shipping Canada to USA?
Small items marked used should be no problem when shipped Canada Post. After it clears customs, USPS continues with the delivery.I purchased components from Canadian dealers and they would only ship UPS. The delivery was quick, but there was alway...
Does Plugging Bass Port Affect Pace, Rhythm and Timing?
Are you using any type of footers? Lifting the speakers off the shelf will really tighten up the bass.
Tube Question
@jcbach , does your amp use a 3-prong power cable; the type with an earth ground? If so, try using a cheater-plug into the wall receptacle. This will eliminate the possibility of a ground loop.
AAA vs DDD...
I would call "the mistake" in analogue production "colouration" or  "harmonic distortion." I'm not sure which is more difficult, analogue or digital production. With analogue, there is the constant concern to reduce noise and prevent distortion wh...
Transport
ARC CDP uses the Philips pro transport and is designed with excellent vibration and noise control. Marantz also uses a Phillips transport. When using a CDP as a transport, a reclocker at the input to the Dac would provide higher SQ. The outputs on ...
Question for tube aficionados
So you like the Tele's, they're excellent tubes. You gave the Amperex a chance, as long as you burned them in for 60 hours and then did some critical listening.
First HiFi system - questions
Good advice from mesch. I have a few comments...Nice looking vintage TT, but don't bother replacing the cable.Definitely compare the performance of the CDP vs. Dac. But, typically a DAC in a preamp will have a small power supply and may not be as ...
NOS DAC Warmth
this stereo was so clear and transparent that when I played my cd’s it would reveal every flaw the recording contained. With an excellent flawless recording the sound it presented was breathtaking no doubt about it. However in my cd collection the...
Borderpatrol Dac SE
Jond is right. And 48 hours is not nearly enough run-in time for a component. Let us know how it sounds after 100 or 150 hours.
NOS DAC Warmth
An NOS Dac can present as much detail as any other type of Dac, it’s all based on the implementation and design. IME, NOS may sound more organic and less fatiguing than a Delta Sigma dac.I actually think a design which implements a FPGA may have t...
Is an Async DAC Needed to Reduce Jitter when playing CDs?
Agree with shadorne, no source is sending a jitter-free signal to the Dac. And aren't all decent DAC's manufactured these days asynchronous? You need a transport with an excellent clock to reduce jitter, or a memory player with a buffer for the dat...
Need tube preamp recommendations please
The Don Sachs Linestage looks to be the finest preamp as far as cost/performance. $1999 for a 6SN7 custom-built remote unit, $1395 for a Linestage with the tubes enclosed.  I was in touch with Don and we discussed a unit to meet my needs and the p...
